Celebrity Street Style: Nicole Richie Shops in Beverly Hills with Celine Tote

Nicole Richie takes a stroll in Beverly Hills with a Celine tote in hand as she shops for the Holidays. The celebrity designer dressed for style and warmth in a textured jacket and blue-and-ivory printed scarf. Her jeans cuff fell nicely onto her House of Harlow 1960 lace-up boots.

She styled her hair with straight bangs and the makeup was in a neutral palette. The large sunglasses added the right amount of glam to her look. It’s all about the task at hand and looking good while you do it.

Celine was a lesson in shapes and simplicity for Spring 2012. The collection boasted clean lines and circular dimensions through-out. Leather was styled with cotton for a fresher look for the season. A darker color palette of gray, black, green and brown were lifted by the pristine white. The beauty of this collection was unmistakable and unfussy. It was the epitome of chic, so modern and uncontrived.

Paris: Celine Spring 2011

Celine was clean , modern and effortless for Spring 2011.  Phoebe Philo proves once again that minimalism is chic.  There were no bells and whistles added to this collection; it was bare bones and beautiful.  She used fabric to create interest and variety.  Leather, denim and cotton were all used to showcase the simpicity of the pieces and their relaxed elegance.  A beautiful blue, green and white stripe fabric was used as an accent to the solids.  The color palette ranged from white, yellow and orange to blue, burgundy and black.  There were so many separates, one could get lost for hours mixing and matching these pieces.  It was all about the roomy low-slung pant, some with a tapered leg, others were wide-leg trousers.  There were no rules this season, just sophisticated options.

Today the skies were blue, and the sun was shining brilliantly.  Spring is finally here, okay it’s not official yet, but work with me.  It felt like we were stuck in a never-ending winter, but now that it’s here, it’s time to trade-in our bulky coats for lighter gear.  What could be more perfect for warmer weather than the trench?  The spring 2010 trench is nothing like your mother’s jacket; it’s been updated and re-worked to make us fall in love all over again with this classic wardrobe staple.

Burberry Prorsum started with the classic trench, and they never cease to amaze us with their ability to remain a dominant force in this market.  The draping on this trench is stunning.  It’s so beautiful, that it could be worn as a dress.  I love the proportions, especially the three-quarter length sleeves.

Celine removed the sleeves from this classic coat, and made it look like a desirable shirt dress.  It’s both sleek and modern.  A jacket like this will have you yearning for a few raindrops just so you can throw it on and go.

3.1 Phillip Lim brought us the fun vinyl trench in fire engine red.  You can tell this sporty coat was made to get wet in the rain.  If the rain doesn’t cooperate, then you have the option of a water balloon fight.  Hey, you have to take it out for a test drive.

Christian Dior’s leather trench is super sexy and sultry.  The tan color is the only thing traditional about this hip-length beauty.  Take this one out day or night, and it will show that you are a card carrying member in the business of personal style.

Celine brought chic and luxury to the runway with its Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.  Phoebe Philo created pieces that every young professional woman will yearn for come fall.  The color palette was simple and clean; black, white, cream, and camel, but that was where the simplicity ended.  It was elegant and modern without the harsh lines.  Leather  was featured heavily, but it was soft and appeared to have movement.  The use of lace and silk brought a vulnerability that would have been missing around all the leather and modern shapes.  It was not an overly conservative collection, several of the blouses were updated with tails, and some of the sweaters were sprinkled with sequins.   Celine proves that beautifully made clothes can rival mini skirts and skin any day of the week.
