John Galliano Names Taylor Momsen the Face of His Perfume

John Galliano has named, Gossip Girl’s, Taylor Momsen as the face of his perfume.  Just last week we learned she was the face of Madonna’s new clothing line, and now she’s fronting a high-end brand.  This has to be the best summer ever for the 16 year old.  Galliano must have been drawn to her edgy punk rock style which is characteristic of her lead status in a rock band.  Momsen recently revealed that she fired her stylist because she wanted to reflect her own sense of style.  I would not advocate such a move under normal circumstances, but it is apparently working out extremely well for the young actress.  Galliano’s new scent debuts in the fall, and so will the ad campaign featuring the Gossip Girl star.

Jennifer Aniston Goes Topless In Fragrance Ad

Image via Huffington Post

Jennifer Aniston went the topless route in her new fragrance ad.  Well, she does have the body to pull it off.  Her perfume Lolavie will launch in London on Wednesday.  The actress’ appearance at Harrod’s will likely lead to huge sales.  Once she leaves, I’m sure the ad will continue to inspire many to make the purchase because there’s something so natural and carefree about a half-naked woman on a beach.  That perceived freedom is enough to make this promotion a success.  Just look at the peace and serenity on her face, heck, if Lolavie can make you look and feel that great, they’ll have problems keeping the fragrance in stock.

Lacoste: Alexa Chung Is New Face for Fragrance

Alexa Chung is the new face of the Lacoste fragrance due out in January.  The sporty brand selected the former MTV Video Jockey to be their spokesperson because she is one of fashion’s ‘it girl’.  The former model is sought after for her personal style by brands like Mulberry, who named a bag after her, and Pepe Jeans where she utilized her designing skills.  It was only a matter of time before she added a fragrance to her list of fashionable accomplishments.  Alexa has the midas touch when it comes to defining what’s cool.

Lara Stone heats up Versace’s ad campaign for Versus this spring.  The design house remains true to its nature with this sensual commercial for its fragrance.  Lara has already worked with Givenchy, Calvin Klein, and she recently replaced Madonna at Louis Vuitton.  She is a model in demand, and from the looks of this ad it will stay that way.  So we have selected Lara Stone for our Rollcall list this week.

Demi Moore: Beautiful Even Before Photoshop

Demi Moore proves that she is stunning with or without the help of photoshop.  Controversy about extensive retouching surrounded her W magazine cover last year.  Now un-retouched photos of the actress has surfaced and triggered further talk of photoshopping.  Her perfume ad is in question this time.  There appears to be an uproar over retouching lately.  Some might say it’s a little hypocritical because people tend to scrutinize the models in ads quite severely, and complain if they appear, um, human.  Flaws like wrinkles, moles, and freckles are often criticized.  On the other hand, brands tend to strive for perfection in their ad campaigns.  That quest for perfection leads young women to hold themselves to impossible beauty standards that can be detrimental.  It doesn’t matter which side of the debate you fall, most women would purchase perfume from Demi in the un-retouched photo just as they would in the photoshopped ad.  Watch the behind the scenes shoot for the ad.

SJP: Sex and the City Fragrance

Sarah Jessica Parker wore Oscar de la Renta in an ad for her new fragrance, SJP NYC.  Though this is not Sarah Jessica’s first time in the fragrance department, it is, however, Carrie Bradshaw’s first time.  Ms. Bradshaw’s zeal for life was the inspiration for the fragrance, and really, who wouldn’t want a little of her in a bottle?  Apparently Carrie smells like strawberry because that’s the underlying scent of SJP NYC.  The new fragrance will make its full debut around the release of the Sex and the City movie sequel.  Now, if only they could bottle just how Carrie Bradshaw was able to afford that killer wardrobe and those fabulous shoes on a writer’s budget.  Sigh.

Mariah Carey and ‘Forever’ Fragrance

Fragrances have been on my mind this week, and Mariah Carey is launching a new perfume, ‘Forever‘; it’s due in stores in September.  The name is fitting for Ms. Carey’s new fragrance, you need only listen to her music to know that she believes in true love and ‘forever’.  “I am in a wonderful place right now, surrounded by all the things I love, and ‘Forever’ captures this moment in time” , says Ms. Carey about her new fragrance.  We should all be so lucky.  Earlier this week I traded in my signature scent for a new one, I would like to think it’s my way of starting anew.  You can learn plenty about a woman by the number of fragrances she wears.  I tend to keep one signature scent, and remain faithful to that one scent.  While I have a friend who has tons of fragrances she wears depending on her mood or her destination.  Though I’m already committed, it would be nice to try ‘Forever’ when  it comes to stores next month; we know all good things come to those who wait, at least that’s what my mother says.

Sweet Smell of Success

We have noticed that launching a fragrance has been in the ‘news’ lately.  Is it just me, or is everyone launching or in the process of launching a fragrance.  Tom Ford recently launched Bois Marocain.  Now Calvin Klein, Pucci, and Cartier at Sephora are offering limited edition perfumes, and Alberta Ferretti is launching her debut fragrance as well.  Fashion Rollcall has added designer fragrances to its Rollcall list this week.  The fragrance industry had stalled a bit in 2002, sales were slow.  With the increase of new fragrances, it’s likely  there has been an upswing in the sale of fragrances.  It makes sense that sales would increase during times of economic turbulence.  Everyone wants to wear that sensual scent, the one that captivates the senses and brings out a more sultry side.  I’ll have a few bottles of that, thank you.  It is also an affordable luxury, and even more, it makes us feel better.
