Blake Lively was all sugar-and-spice in Gucci at Sprinkles Cupcakes’ event to benefit Oxfam America. She wore a pleated leather mini with a button-up blouse. The actress’ stylist must have done some re-con because she was perfectly coordinated with the background. I do love attention to detail. Her gold skirt was approriate for this affair, along with her cream top with embroidery at the neckline. She accessorized with a pair of patent leather heels to anchor her look. The makeup was in a rosy hue with a complementary pink lip color and her hair was in a ponytail. I give her points for this well-thought-out ensemble, and the cupcake alone was worth a couple of points.

Charlize Theron made an entrance on the red carpet in a sexy Gucci design at the Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City. The actress was statuesque in a black-and-white cocktail dress with a deep plunging neckline and metallic beading at the waist. Her skirt had multiple tiers and the top was silk with ribbons hanging down. A pair of bronze strappy sandals (also by the label) and a clutch accessorized her look, along with gold chains by Fred Leighton and a Jennifer Behr headwrap. The makeup was flawless with a bold red lip color to accentuate her attire.

Ashley Greene was all Hollywood glamour when she posed for “Flare” magazine’s December 2011 issue. We got to see the glammed-up actress in high-end designs from Gucci and Marchesa – think gorgeous ruffle-like detail, and intricate beadwork. Her makeup was equally stunning, nothing beats a strong brow to frame the face. The shoot was conducted poolside by photographer Max Abadian in Beverly Hills.

Evan Rachel Wood attended “The Ides of March” premiere in New York City in a Gucci ensemble. She wore a leather coat dress in burgundy, with a tied bow at the neckline. It boasted long sleeves, and a belted waist. The actress accessorized with an eggplant hat, of the same label, with a lavender ribbon and wined colored heels. Her hair was in an up-do, and a bold, red lip color was used to complement this dramatic look.

Camilla Belle attended the Gucci Museum Opening in Florence in a sleeveless color-block design from the label. It was metallic on top, and black on bottom with a matching two-tone belt at the waistline. Her dress shimmered from the dazzling embellishment. She selected high heels with ankle straps, and a simple clutch to go with this look. A pair of earrings, and a single bracelet were her jewelry companions for the evening.

Gucci took its inspiration from the roaring twenties for its Spring 2012 collection.  The flapper look ruled this runway, but it was updated for the 21st Century in shimmering black and gold.  We are in for a bold season with this brand, forget subdued pastel colors.  These looks were sexy in dazzling metallics, and many with architectural details.    Let’s not forget the fringes and boas, both were hallmarks of that time period.

Olivia Wilde took to the red carpet with Old Hollywood drama, and 21st Century flare.  The actress attended the London premiere of Cowboys & Aliens in a daring black-and-white polka dot Gucci gown.  It was sheer in the bodice and sleeves, but had modest coverage in front.  A frontal bow was used to add a bit of conservatism to her dress, and it worked.  I loved how the hemline swept the floor with such grandeur, her crimson lips only added to the drama of the days of the screen siren.
