MBFW: New York – Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2011

Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring 2011 collection was a case of peek-a-boo elegance.  Sheer fabric was placed over opaque pieces to form a sexy illusion of seeing the forbidden, it was a beautiful use of the overlay.  Gorgeous cocktail dresses and gowns took to Mizrahi’s runway in floral prints and dazzling metallic embellishments.  That was in addition to the neutrals of nude and black.  It was sophistication with an edge; demure yet alluring.  The designer achieved lady-like glamour on a grand scale.

Iman Will Join Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show

Bravo TV announced that Iman will be the new co-host of The Fashion Show.  The fashion icon joins designer Isaac Mizrahi to find new design talent.  “I am so excited to be joining the Bravo team and to be working again with Isaac Mizrahi, my close friend of many, many years,” says Iman.  Their existing friendship should generate a great on-camera rapport.  The supermodel replaces singer Kelly Rowland.  It’s likely the show will benefit from having two veterans of the fashion industry.  There are plenty of undiscovered fashion designers out there who can bring the drama and innovation needed to help make this show a hit.  Season two of The Fashion Show will be on the industry’s must watch list when it airs later this year.

Calvin Klein – February 18th @ 3:00pm EST – calvinkleincollections.com

Mizrahi on the Move

Isaac Mizrahi was recently on the road working on the re-launch of Liz Claiborne, the goal was to breathe new life into the brand.  It’s not your mother’s Liz Claiborne; the plan is to make the label younger and cooler.  Mr. Mizrahi was on a tour to various cities meeting people and getting the word out about the new ‘Liz’ as he calls her.  A goal of the label today is to get women to wear more color and to be more tailored, but never trendy.  The culture at Liz has always been to deliver quality clothes without the high costs, and he continues that today.  It’s so obvious that he loves what he does, and so do we.
