Diane Kruger in Miu Miu at Martel Presentation

Diane Kruger gave us a little 1940′s style in her Miu Miu design at the presentation of Muta, a short film directed by Lucrecia Martel.  Her black dress had floral embroidery in the sleeves.  The print was of an autumn color palette, and she accessorized with a brown oversized clutch for maximum effect.  Her strappy Jimmy Choos were definitely for summer ready, and her hair accented the time period of her look.

Jennifer Lopez attended the Blackberry Playbook launch at Best Buy in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 19th.  It was also the launch of her new album, Love?.  The singer showed-off her firm abs in a bandeau top from Christian Cota, a pair of Tibi pants and a Topshop jacket.  I loved her black peeped-toe Jimmy Choo heels and the dark pedicure was a nice touch.  Her hair was styled in loose curls, and her light brown tresses had pretty bland highlights.

The dusky rose and silver metallic beauty took it’s inspiration from the 1920′s, but beautifully updated.  She accessorized with gold peeped-toe Christian Louboutin heels and a two-toned clutch from Jimmy Choo.  This was a stylish look for the young actress who wore her hair up and away from her face.  Hayden’s face was sunkissed and glowing with a neutral color palette.

Tamara Mellon proves that she is not only the co-founder of Jimmy Choo, but also the face of the mega accessory brand.  The woman behind those fabulous stilettos has launched the label’s first fragrance, called Jimmy Choo.  “Fragrance is such an important accessory for women — I think it will have a very broad reach.  Our customer is every woman, says Mellon.”  The scent is probably as sexy as those shoes if the beautiful architectural details of the bottle is any indication.  Saks Fifth Avenue will sell the perfume exclusively starting on January 15th at $95 per bottle.

Taylor Swift unveiled a new look last night at the 2010 American Music Awards.  She did so in a metallic pewter mini-dress and super sexy straight hair with bangs.  This was no doubt a grown up Taylor.  Her dress was a Collette Dinnigan design that glistened from the sparkling embellishments.  Think of a slip dress amped up to the tenth degree in dazzling studs.  Her strappy Jimmy Choo shoes were a perfect match to her dress.  She went for a neutral face and lips and went darker on the eyes.  The singer is showing us her sultry side on the red carpet; signaling that she is growing up.

Jimmy Choo and Ugg Join Forces

jimmy-choo-2010-black-sandals21

The fashion world woke up to the news that Jimmy Choo had joined forces with Ugg.  To some, the news shocked the conscience.  Is this a good idea?  Thoughts like, ‘don’t Ugg with Choo’ did come to mind.  Jimmy Choo crafts perfectly delicate shoe confections.  Why would Tamara Mellon team up with Ugg who makes not so delicate confections.  Then visions of a comfortable pair of stilettos started dancing in my head.  We know that Uggs are undeniably comfortable, this comes not from personal knowledge, but word on the street.  Further, any woman who wears high heels has had her feet file a complaint or two over said shoes.  Could it be possible that Jimmy Choo could lend its beautiful craftmanship to Ugg to create shoes we’ll actually covet?  We will find out in October when the collection is launched.  The line will range from $595 to $795, apparently beauty and comfort does not come cheap.

When Jimmy Choo Met H&M

The marriage of the luxury market with mass retail has become common place lately, yet learning of a new collaboration is often met with excitement.  Jimmy Choo for H&M is one of those joint ventures being met with great anticipation, and rightly so.   Have you seen the collection?  They have many covetable pieces.  It includes accessories like shoes, sandals, bags and jewelry.  The dresses are sexy and sparkly too; can we say New Year’s Eve?  You don’t take my word for it,  here is a sneak preview of the collection.  All of these items will be in stores on November 14th.  Dress in layers because the odds are you’ll have a little wait outside on line, but it will be worth if you can walk away with that black one shoulder leather dress.

Top Five High-end Designers for Mass Market

Thakoon for Target

The economy has affected us all, and it has even influenced our shopping habits.  We’ve all heard the talk of a ‘V’ shaped economic recovery, suggesting that once we’ve hit bottom, we’ll trend upward without looking back.  While I’m usually an optimist, I’m more inclined to believe that we are in a ‘W’ shaped recovery where we will hit bottom twice before trending upward to a full recovery.  With this in mind, we must be mindful of our budgets, but still remain fabulous and stylish.  Mixing our wardrobe with higher and lower-end pieces has never been more essential for the woman who loves fashion.  Here is a list of the top five collaborations of high-end designers and mass market retailers.  They are:

  • 1. Karl Lagerfeld- H&M
  • 2. Jimmy Choo- H&M
  • 3. Proenza Schouler- Target
  • 4. Matthew Williamson- H&M
  • 5. Thakoon – Target
