Natalie Portman in Lanvin at Annual Governors Awards

Natalie Portman looked glamorous at the 2nd Annual Governors Awards.  She wore a fuchsia Lanvin gown from the Resort 2011 collection.  This dress was all about the beautiful draping and special details.  The spaghetti strap on the right created a notable contrast with the full strap and the flower detail on the left; this made the dress very current and modern.  It had an Asian-inspired silhouette, that included an obi-styled belt.  Natalie accessorized with a pair of fuchsia platform sandals, a printed evening bag and a gold bracelet.  This was another high-glamour red carpet moment for the actress.

Julianne Moore in Lanvin’s Two Faced Dress at London Premiere

Images via UPI.com

Julianne Moore wore Lanvin’s two faced dress from the Spring 2011 collection on the red carpet.  She wore it to the London premiere of The Kids Are Alright.  This was a fashion forward choice for the actress.  It’s like two dresses in one, mirror opposites.  On the right side you have a long navy sleeve, complete with volume.  While the left side is sleek and sleeveless in the color teal.  It boasts an asymmetrical hem and loose draping on the right side.  Her dress came with its own personalities.  The actress paired it with simple black accessories – shoes, belt and evening bag - because anything else would compete with this look.

Blake Lively in Lanvin at Spike TV’s Scream Awards

Images via Style.com & Huffingotn Post

Blake Lively wore a Lanvin gown from the Spring 2011 collection to the Scream Awards in Los Angeles.   This dress was gorgeous on the runway in Paris and on the actress.  The only difference is Blake’s dress was all grey with a bourbon trim and the runway look was camel on top and grey on the bottom.  Lively’s gown is high fashion and she smartly went minimal on the jewelry, only a few bracelets on the right wrist was needed.  It was a glamorous look.  I loved that her strappy sandals mimicked the design in the embellished neckline.  The thigh-high slit elongated her legs and the halter style cut on top showed-off her fabulous shoulders.

Paris: Lanvin Spring 2011

Images via Fashionologie & Harper’s Bazaar

Flowing fabrics, smooth as liquid and exquisite draping were the makings of Lanvin for Spring 2011.  The colors were almost fall like, but the designs said springtime; they were orange-red, rust, gray, black and tan.  Even the prints were deep and rich in colors often reserved for your winter wardrobe.  Even so, there was a lightness to the collection, as if the models were about to take flight down the runway.  The movement and fluidity of the fabrics were amazing.  These were entrance making pieces, and they stayed with you long after the woman has left the room.  His finale was unforgettable in both the skillful mastery of the fabric and in its imagery; five black models descended down the catwalk simultaneously in sophisticated print looks.  The show was a lesson in fine craftmanship and in the dramatic.

Prints for Bags

Vivienne Westwood at ShopStyle
Lanvin at ShopStyle
Coach at ShopStyle

We’ve already showcased prints in the form of dresses for summer, so now here are a few bags to keep you on trend.  Wear your bag while rocking the denim or white dress trend if you wish.  You can also mix and match your prints in terms of your outfit and accessories if you’re so boldly inclined.  The multi-colored bag is a Vivienne Westwood with beautiful patterns, followed by the gorgeous pink Lanvin with two-toned brush strokes.  Then there’s the Coach bag with printed logo in a silver-gray hue.  Though I usually stay away from items with logos, this tote has a subtle print with more of a circular pattern.  As you can see, you can choose from the casual, dressy and the in-between. Accessories are a fun and simple way to update your wardrobe with prints, and a great investment.  These bags are priced between $232 and $1,205.
