Anne Hathaway was as graceful as Audrey Hepburn in a little black dress at the New York City premiere of “The Iron Lady.” She wore a sleeveless sheath with a high neckline that fell just below the knee. The actress accessorized with a satin clutch and pointy-toe heels. Her hair was styled in a sleek bun and the makeup was dramatic with strong brows and bright red lips. She was tres chic on the red carpet.

Sarah Jessica Parker attended Christie’s preview of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry collection in a little black dress. She looked beautiful in a strapless number with a fitted bodice and a full skirt. A satiny hemline added texture and interest to her frock. She accessorized with a simple pair of matching pointy-toe heels. Interestingly enough, she wore no jewels to this event. Her hair was center-parted in large curls, and her makeup was flawless and neutral as always.

Sofia Vergara wore a little black dress to the A Decade of Difference Gala in New York City. The actress selected a fitted number with a geometric neckline, and it fell just below the knee. She accessorized with peep-toe heels, a metallic clutch, chandelier earrings and diamond bangles. Strong brows, and sexy hair completed her look for the evening.

Zoe Saldana selected a stylish LBD for Nas’ birthday celebration last night in New York City.  The actress made her entrance in a slinky black number with silver straps.  It also had a bluson bodice, and a straight skirt.  I loved the combining of textile, it had sheen on top, and was matte in the lower-half.  A gorgeous updo, and flawless makeup  completed her look for the evening.

Gabrielle Union showed-off her curves in a little black dress at the premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  It had lace inset the upper portion and sleeves.  Her hemline fell just above the knee, the look was sexy, but demure.  She wore a pair of platform booties to give the outfit an edgier vibe.  I would have preferred a bracelet or two, but she look gorgeous anyway.  The hair and makeup were stunning enough to make me overlook the lack of accessories.

Amanda Seyfried wore a sexy little black dress to the London premiere of Little Red Riding Hood.  The minidress was designed by Karen Caldwell with tank-styled sleeves and a front panel in the skirt.  She paired it with black leather peeped-toe heels and a beautiful necklace with vivid colors; even her lipstick was a similar hue to that of her jewelry.  Amanda’s hair was styled in lovely soft waves, her golden locks fully complemented the look .  She brought a classic outfit to life by adding bold lips and accessories.

Kristen Stewart was lovely in this black Valentino lace dress at the screening of Welcome to the Rileys in New York City.  The one-shoulder mini dress was paired with a pair of satin high heels.  I love the illusion of transparency when it comes to lace.  It has a beautiful shoulder detail that makes more than a simple little black dress.  The length and the fit makes it youthful.  Stewart’s bold red lips and dark eyes complete the sexy red carpet look.

Sienna Miller is in Nina Ricci at the opening of Esquire magazine’s Esquire House in Los Angeles.  This was the 8th Annual Esquire House charity event and it benefited the International Medical Corps.  Each year the magazine creates a lavish bachelor pad and the venue is used to host major charity events throughout the year.  Miller’s dress is from Nina Ricci’s Fall 2010 collection.  A strapless black number with lace and a peek-a-boo detail at the hem.  It’s feminine and lady-like; the perfect little black dress for the red carpet.

There is nothing like the perfect little black dress.  It is a must have in every woman’s closet.  Chic and sophistication are two words that comes to mind when you think of this wardrobe staple.  Luckily Michael Kors, Vera Wang and Phillip Lim have updated the LBD for spring 2010.  They’ve managed to keep it chic, while making it more relaxed for the warmer weather.

3.1 Phillip Lim added oragami pleatings in taupe and lavender.  The pleatings create visual interest, and instant sophistication.  Vera Wang inserted a beautiful print at the neckline.  The print elevated it from traditional to modern.  Michael Kors went for a more overtly sexy cut-out at the waist and straps.  It is the most daring of the three, but go ahead, don’t be shy.  There is a LBD for everyone this season.  Each designer had their own interpretation of the little black  dress for spring, and they gave it a little more personality.
