Sarah Jessica Parker Lands Vogue Cover: Talks Halston & SATC

Sarah Jessica Parker has it all right now; new twin girls, a movie sequel and a new position as president and chief creative officer at Halston.  She landed the cover of Vogue’s May issue, and success looks good on her.  Life is definitely good for the actress turned designer.  Of her designing ways, the actress explains that Halston made her an offer she could not refuse.  Before accepting the offer, she gave them several opportunities to walk away, and reminded them they were taking “a very untraditional route”.   Apparently they were undeterred because Parker is essentially the new face of the label.  We know that Carrie Bradshaw is the epitome of style, and SJP has morphed into a style icon in her own right.  What remains to be seen is how this unbeatable combination will translate into her new Halston Heritage line. We eagerly await the debut of the spring 2011 collection; and many of us are rooting for her to succeed.

Behind the Scenes Video: Fergie On Elle’s May Cover Shoot

Fergie is on the cover of Elle’s May issue in a beautifully draped mint green Burberry Prorsum dress.  The singer looks soft and pretty, it could be a combination of the gentle waves in her hair and the classic make-up accompanied by nude lips.  Either way, it’s a great spring cover.  In the article she talks about gossip, dieting and high school.  Take a look at the behind the scenes video and see the gorgeous looks she wore for her shoot.

Interview Extends Fashion Magazines’ Relevance By Getting On iPad

Interview magazine has reasons to feel very smug this week, they have the distinction of being the first fashion magazine to have an iPad version.  The digital issue hits stores on April 3rd, the same day as the iPad.  Talk about a coup.  Vogue and W will soon follow with their own iPad versions, but Interview led this charge.  Admittedly, this is a brilliant move by the fashion magazines.  They have found a new way to deliver their content in a technologically relevant manner.  For this strategic maneuver, we have named Interview to our Rollcall list this week.  iPad owners will have access to the digital format a week before it hits the newsstands on April 12th.  Interview has 330 screen images on this gadget, as well as audio and video.  A Bruce Weber video is also among its contents.  It’s enough to make you want an iPad when the desire was never even there before.  Maybe the obituaries for the fashion magazines’ demise were a bit premature.  The iPad could turn the reading of your favorite glossy into a social event.

Demi Graces British Elle’s May Cover

Image Via The Today Experience

Demi Moore is a timeless beauty that continues to grace magazine covers at the age of 47.  She is the cover girl for British Elle for the month of May, and she is a stunner.  What is it about Mrs. Kutcher that fascinates us so much?  Part of the reason for the interest may stem from her younger husband Ashton, but I’m convinced that the other part comes from her beauty on the inside and outside.  Beauty is not only skin deep, it also has a soul.  Elle’s cover managed to capture both.  Black-and-white photography was an excellent choice for this image.  Her expressive eyes convey depth and thought, while her cleavage, well that’s pure bombshell.

Anna Wintour Plans to Show More Curves on the Pages of Vogue

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010

Image Via Elle.com

It appears the increase of curvey models in magazines and on the runway may become a more dominant trend than was first realized.  A few days ago Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, designer Michael Kors and model Natalia Vodianova were panelists at a forum regarding the overall health of models.  Of course the topic of eating disorders was a central theme.  Major news that will affect the fashion industry came from that event.  One is the promise by Ms. Wintour that Vogue will use models of various sizes on its pages.  That is big news indeed because her proactive stance on depicting positive body images in the fashion bible can have a rippling effect on the industry.  The other big news is Michael Kors’ announcement that he will no longer use models under the age 16.  He also intends to call on his peers to do the same.  Change has definitely come to this industry, and I say it’s about time.  Many young girls grow up emulating the girls they see in magazines, and seeing images of models of various body sizes will have a profound impact.  It sends a message that our society is ready to celebrate the beauty of real women.  Let’s face it, the industry benefits when girls and women feel better about themselves.  Should you doubt that last statement, remind me of the last time you went shopping while you were feeling self-conscious about your own body image.  If you can’t remember it’s because it doesn’t happen very often.  In the end, everyone benefits from a positive body image in this industry, and the industry will see it reflected in their bottom-line.

Gisele – Behind the Scenes for Vogue Cover Shoot

Images Via Catwalk Queen

By now we’ve all seen Gisele Bundchen on the cover of Vogue’s April issue.  It’s a familiar scene, the supermodel has graced the cover countless times.  The major difference is the model is now a mother.  She gained thirty pounds with her newborn son Benjamin, and you would be hard press to find any of that weight on her now.  Gisele credits karate and yoga for getting her back into shape.  The video gives you an insight into the changes in her life since the baby.  A shift has happened, the model has new priorities.  We can see a softer side that was probably there all along, but concealed.  While motherhood may be her priority right now, the business woman is still going strong.  She recently launched a line of organic skincare products, Sejaa.  Gisele appears to have it all, and she makes it look so effortless.

Seventeen year old Karlie Kloss is on top of the modeling world.  She currently has a Dior and Hermes campaign, and as of the Christmas break, she now has her driver’s license.  Who says Santa does not exist?  If that were not enough, Karlie is also on the February cover of  Italian Vogue.  It’s safe to say that she is living a model’s dream.  Her Dior campaign is sultry with a hint of old hollywood, and the Hermes ad is soft and sweet.  The ads are total opposites of the other, but each showcases the model’s range.  Both ads explain why she is a model in demand, and why she has made our Rollcall list this week.

Natasha Poly is Russian Vogue’s January 2010 Cover

natasha_poly_january2010_voguerussiModel Natasha Poly is the covergirl for Russian Vogue’s January issueMerely looking at the cover will elicit a wow!  The word bombshell also comes to mind.  Natasha is so Marilyn Monroe-esque in this shot.  The photo is reminiscent of Marilyn Monroes’s infamous happy birthday rendition to President John F. Kennedy.  She appears to be channeling Marilyn from the beautiful blonde tresses down to the sparkly gown Monroe had to be sown into prior to going on stage.  Poly definitely has the sexy and sultry look down to a science.  If this cover is indicative of future covers in 2010, we  have a very fashionable year ahead.
