Mulberry Fall 2011 Ad Campaign

Mulberry’s new Fall 2011 campaign takes us to a room of clutter and chaos to highlight the beauty and order in its collection. The monochromatic looks appeared out of place amongst a rustic backdrop, but they provided contrast. Your eyes are guided directly to the pieces, the background is ancillary.

A second wave of Mulberry for Target bags are due to hit selected stores on November 14th, just in time for the Holidays.  You can choose between bold prints or classic velvet and patent.  The totes and satchels are the stand-outs in this collection, they have the signature silhouettes of original Mulberry at a budget friendly price-point.  A bag is a great holiday gift to yourself, and to the stylish ladies on your list.

Victoria Beckham Is British Fashion Awards’ Nominee

Images via Telegraph UK

Victoria Beckham has been nominated for Designer Brand of the Year by the British Fashion Awards.  This is an impressive achievement for the relatively new designer.  She began her designing career with dvb, her denim collection.  Then she worked her way to a high-end dress line called Victoria Beckham Collection.  Her dresses are feminine without the frills.   The shapes are the most compelling things about her dress collection.  They are very architectural, yet soft and approachable.  Beckham’s signature style is all over this line; it’s as if she designs each piece for herself.  Just take note of the images of her Russian Vogue editorial early last year.

The former Spice Girl is in excellent company for this nomination; Burberry, Mulberry and Pringle of Scotland are also in contention.  The winners will be announced on December 7th.  It appears to me that in this esteemed company, the nomination has already made Beckham a winner.

Mulberry and Target to Make Capsule Collection

Target has made another high-end connection, this time the mass market retailer has teamed up with Mulberry.  Mulberry is reponsible for the current ‘It Bag,’ the Alexa Bag.  If Target has its way, the high-end retailer will do the same for this capsule collection, but at a lower price-point.  The coupling of high-end with mass market has been a dominate trend for the last couple of years, and it does not appear to be slowing down.  Mulberry is in very good company, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Proenza Schouler are some of the luxury designers who’ve already collaborated with Target.  You can get your hands on a Mulberry for Target bag or two at the launch that is set for October 10th.

Alexa Chung’s Fashion Takeover

Alexa Chungalexachung2

Alexa Chung is in the process of a fashion takeover.  It appears that the cancelation of her MTV show has not slowed down the former model.  Mulberry has since honored her with a handbag named Alexa.  She has even inked a deal to collaborate with Madewell, a store owned by J. Crew.  Who knew she was also a designer?  It goes to show that great style is always marketable.  So we have named the designer and handbag icon to our Rollcall list.  We want to know what else she has in store for the rest of 2010, and we will be watching.
