Kenneth Cole Talks

Kenneth Cole’s design career began at his father’s shoe factory where they created Candies Shoes for women.  That led him to venture out on his own, and start his own shoe line in 1982.  He learned along the way that sales was about showmanship, and that foresight made Mr. Cole a success.  He’s proven that he is as adept at advertising as much at creating designs; his controversial ad campaigns caught the public’s attention, and created a place for Mr. Cole’s fashion lines.  Kenneth Cole’s name is as synonymous with social consciousness and philanthropy as much for his creative designs.  He tirelessly works with amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, and donates millions of dollars to them, all while serving as Chairman of the Board.  Take a few minutes to view the interview.

Power Of The Consumer

The world is interdependent, and the economic crisis has only highlighted this fact.  The fashion capitals, New York, London, Milan and Paris are each facing challenges from the downturn.

The consumer is the heroine in this story and will determine ‘The New Beginning’.  An ending is not an option.  The economy and the industry are relying on the consumer, despite the bail-out from the government.

A powerful and discriminating consumer has emerged.  One guide to the shopper is to pay attention to the charitable and the philanthropic acts of individuals and businesses.  Reward them with your patronage.

The fashion industry contributes regularly to society.  Many people benefit from the goodwill of fashion houses and retailers, and the consumer can take note.
