Charlize Theron in The Row at Photo-call in Tokyo for ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’

Celebrity: Charlize Theron

Event: Photo-call for Snow White and the Huntsman in Tokyo

Dress: The Row leather sheath

Jewelry: Dana Rebecca Designs rings

Shoes: Strappy High-heeled sandals

Beauty: Strong brows and smoky-eyes with a bold red pout and wavy tresses

Color Critique: She clearly knows how to rock a black dress. I also liked the crimson cheeks and lips to complement the red carpet instead of a nude color. -

Lea Michele in The Row at Party in Paris

Image via People Style Watch

Lea Michele wore a design by The Row to Karl Lagerfeld’s party in Paris. She selected a sleeveless black dress with a sheer overlay. It had a deep V-neckline and an embroidered skirt with some translucency. The actress accessorized with a pair of matching platform pumps and an evening bag. Her hair was pulled away from her face into a sophisticated up-do, and the makeup was dramatic, with an emphasis on the eyes.

Paris: The Row Spring 2011

Images via NYMag

The Row opted to show its Spring 2011 collection in Pais instead of New York this season.  The presentation offered easy and relaxed pieces; they were simple and understated with an effortlessness about them.  Hemlines were modest and past the calves, but the necklines were a deep plunging V.  There was something very freeing about this collection, perhaps because it lacked the confinement of constricting designs.  The fit was flowy and loose.  It felt earthy in a neutral color palette of black, white and barely blush.  We learned that The Row girl was low maintenance for spring, and that was reinforced by her choice of flats over high heels.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to Show Line During Fashion Week

ashleymary-kate

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are taking their label, The Row, to New York Fashion Week.  The high-end clothing line will make its fashion week debut in February.  These two are usually veterans of the front row.  They’re usually surrounded by photographers vying for a shot, and next month will be much of the same.  The Olsen’s have one of the most successful celebrity clothing lines currently on the market.  Their first presentation will be highly anticipated.  Take a look back at The Row’s portfolio from a few seasons back, and you will get a glimpse of what’s in store next month.

The Olsens Are Having It Made: Yes, Their Shades

the-row-sun-glasses2_previewOkay, I’m extremely partial to these sunglasses from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s collaboration with Linda Farrow.  It is part of the dynamic duo’s successful clothing line, The Row.  They’re apparently branching off into accessories (other than their jewelry line), and have opted to start with eyewear.  Before you start rejoicing, these shades will set you back between $325 – $390.  The one question I have is, how well will these pricey sunglasses fair in this economy when the consumer’s discretionery spending is down?  Both the Olsens and Linda Farrow are betting that their targeted demographic will not tighten their purse strings.  We”ll see.  I guess the follow-up question would be, are bags and shoes far behind for The Row?

The Olsens and ‘The Row’

The Olsens’ fashion label The Row is proving to be a major hit, and surprisingly their client base tend to be  a little older.  They also receive great reviews from a notable fashion crowd, many of whom are raving about the schoolboy blazer and peacoat.  The compliments almost reach a purr as they talk about the leather leggings (those must be some pair of leggings).  Ashley and Mary Kate’s line tend to be at a price point of $1,000 or higher, but judging from the reviews, it may be worth it.  The Row is two years old and it appears to be doing very well, so we have named it to our Rollcall list this week.  The Olsens have the midas touch. [The Cut]
