Taylor Swift was elegant in J. Mendel at the 2011 Country Music Awards (CMA). The singer made an entrance in a strapless gown. It was fitted in the bodice and skirt, then it flared at the knee into ribbon-like details at the side. A layer of tulle was expertly draped around the entire dress. She accessorized with a pair of drop-down earrings and a single bracelet. Her hair was a soft layer of curls pinned back into a ponytail. The makeup was flawless, with a pink lip color to complement her rosy cheeks.

Katie Holmes rocked her Alaia minidress with a laceup pair of Proenza Schouler booties at the 2011 Video Music Awards.  This was the most laid-back I’ve seen the actress, and I liked it.

Zoe Saldana wore a short Barbara Bui dress with metallic designs in the bodice.  Her platform, print sandals heightened her style factor for the evening.

Selena Gomez brought the drama to the awards show last night in a lacy Julien Macdonald dress.  She selected a black look that was short in front, and had a sweeping train in back.

Blake Lively walked the blue carpet in a fitted Gucci dress at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.  The mustard colored design was from the Resort 2012 collection.  It fell just above the knee, and had a flattering boat neckline.  She accessorized with cheetah print high-heel pumps and a gold cuff.  I liked that she took a risk with the shoes, instead of playing it safe with something metallic.  In the end, style is all about personality and personal taste.

Shay Mitchell made her blue carpet entrance at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards in a dazzling DKNY miniskirt.  She paired her red sequin skirt with a silk button-up blouse from the label.  Her black peep-toe pumps, and clutch were meant to go with that look.  It was one of the best outfits of the evening; bold color will always stand-out amongst a sea of neutrals. 

Taylor Swift made fashion designer Raphael Cennamo’s month when she wore his design to the 2011 Teen Choice Awards.  The singer selected a white halter dress with a flirty hemline, and V-neckline.  Her skirt had flare and movement, and was accentuated by a bejeweled waistline.  She struck a confident, and self-assured pose on the blue carpet that said, she had found the right look.  The pewter peep-toe pumps completed her glamorous retro look.

Fergie had us seeing stars at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards last night in Los Angeles.  She donned a black and gold Dolce & Gabbana dress covered with stars.  Her figure hugging minidress was playful and sexy, without crossing any lines.  It was informal enough for this event, and  had just enough, ‘here I am’ for the blue carpet.

Kristen Stewart in Balmain – she wore a cutting-edgestrapless minidress affixed with safety pins throughout.  A pair of black heel completed her look.

Leighton Meester in Balmain – she opted for long sleeves and a short hemline with this fully embellished dress.  A strappy pair of high-heeled sandals with lots of sparkle was the perfect finishing touch.

Mila Kunis in Balmain – a metallic mini skirt with beautiful patterns was paired with a simple long sleeved asymmetrical T-shirt.

Emma Watson in Marchesa – an ivory minidress with an embellished neckline and capped sleeves and she accessorized with a pair of metallic paltformed pumps.

Reese Witherspoon in Dolce & Gabbana – a formfitting dress with an above the knee hemline in a bold blue print.

Selena Gomez in Giambattista Valli – this short and sweet look had a beautiful floral print bodice and a texture hem.  She selected pointy-toe pumps and a taupe clutch for the win.

Blake Lively in  Michael Kors – the color-blocking worked for her outfit, a sleeveless blue dress with sheer cut-outs and sexy purple platformed Christian Louboutin pumps.  We also counted the red sole.

Selena Gomez in Christian Cota.  A very spring-like look, a pair of white shorts and a sleeveless print top with white overlay.  She accessorized with a turqouise pair of T-Strapped high-heeled sandals.

Heidi Klum in Gucci.  She wore a minidress with embellished in the sleeves and neckline.  Her black peeped-toe booties with cut-outs were gorgeous and just right for the dress.

Miley Cyrus in Dolce & Gabbana.  She opted for a figure hugging gown in a beautiful floral print. 

Rosario Dawson in Fendi.  Her one-shoulder minidress was flirty and fun with pretty ruffles throughout.  She wore a pair of nude pointy-toed pumps with her eggplant colored dress.

Blake Lively wore a Marchesa design to the CinemaCon Awards in Los Angeles last night.  She selected a vibrant red minidress with tons of texture and tulle throughout.  The actress accessorized with a pair of strappy metallic sandals and a pair of diamond earrings and bracelet.  Her look was bold and playful, and I think she pulled it off.  You wear a dress like this when you want to be noticed, mission accomplished.  Blake correctly wore her hair up and opted for a neutral face to avoid a competition with the dress.
