Jessica Chastain in Balenciaga at Critics Choice Movie Awards

Jessica Chastian was lovely in a pink Balenciaga gown at the Critics Choice Movie Awards. It was graceful and elegant in just the right shade.

Her dress was sleeveless with a blouson bodice. The drapery neckline was a beautiful detail and it fell into a straight skirt.

She styled her hair in a sleek updo, very understated. Her lip color complemented her dress in a bright fuchsia. This look worked because it was clean and unfussy in a fresh hue right in the heart of winter.

Balenciaga Spring 2012 Ad Campaign

Balenciaga was a case of the refined juxtaposed alongside the cluttered. The beauty of the pieces were highlighted by the stark background. Timeless shapes and vivid colors jumped off the adds at first sight.

I loved that the model’s hair was tousled to the point of being unkempt; this also contrasted beautifully with the looks. Admittedly, the thought of walking around in luxurious clothes in bare surroundings does fill me with an unexpected delight. Maybe I am intrigued that she sacrifices her living situation for an incredible wardrobe.

Jennifer Aniston in Kaufmanfranco at ‘Women in Hollywood’ Event

Jennifer Aniston selected a sexy sequin Kaufmanfranco number for the Women in Hollywood event. It was a mini-dress with long sleeves, and a plunging V-neckline. The actress was super sleek in a pair of Balenciaga heels that elongated her toned legs. She carried a silver clutch to match her attire. Her skin was radiant in this revealing look, and the makeup was flawless. I love her hair center-parted in that effortless California look.

Balenciaga – RTW Spring 2012

Images via NYMag

The artful beauty of Balenciaga was unmistakable for Spring 2012. It was in the shapes, volume, proportions and color-blocking. Exaggerated shoulders were a central theme in this collection, and were visible in the dresses and jackets. Fall-like colors took their turn down the runway, and there were no pastels in sight; think metallics, rust and navy. Some of the dresses were reminiscent of the 1950′s because of the fullness and lengths, but that’s where the comparison ends. These looks were current, and had an eye towards the future.

January Jones covers the May 2011 issue of Marie Claire UK.  She wore Diane von Furstenberg for the subscriber’s issue, a sleeveless fuchsia dress and a gold cuff.  For the newsstand cover, Gucci was selected, a purple peek-a-boo cut-out top and orange bottom.  The DVF look was more modest, a lot like her “Mad Men” character, Betty Draper.  Inside January was dressed in a beautiful floral Balenciaga dress and a sexy purple Versace.  Even the editorial took on the vibe of the covers, some looks were more daring while others were more subtle.  The issue hits newsstands on Thursday, April 7th.

Balenciaga was a story of structure combined with the geometric for Fall 2011.  Black and white anchored this collection, with orange and fuchsia serving as accents.  A beautiful print of orange, fuchsia, navy and black on a white background was at the centerpiece.  Leather was made feminine once added to cloth material, it was affixed to the trim of some of the garments.  The shapes, textures and patterns brought excitement to the pieces.  The collection was stylishly understated, yet managed to remain big on personality.

Balenciaga released the first images of its Spring 2011 ad campaign starring Gisele Bundchen.  We get to see the supermodel in a less glamorous, but equally interesting light.  This ad is playful and it highlights her personality, it also showcases her versatility.  Her phenomenal beauty was played-down, and the clothes took center-stage.  The campaign was shot by photographer Steven Meisel and it was a great collaboration.  They stretched beyond the expected and gave us something to talk about.

Paris: Balenciaga Spring 2011

Images via NYMag

Balenciaga went edgy and even a little punk rock for its Spring 2011 runway show.  The girls with shorter hair were styled with spiky hair looks that could have been found on any rock band member, while others wore their hair back in severe ponytails.  Many of the ponytail looks gave off an androgenous vibe in the same way several of the looks for spring were styled.  This collection told a story of pretty print dresses and remarkable printed leather jackets, skirts and vests.  There was one unifying print that was present in both fabric and leather materials.  It was one of the threads that held the collection together and it was a brilliant move.  The connectivity was aesthetically pleasing, and vital in making it all cohesive.
