Balmain brought leather and metallics to the forefront for Spring 2012. These looks were short and/or fitted, and some were adorned with beading. Others had ornate and textured patterns. The collection was youthful and optimistic with all its gold and sparkling embellishment. Pale blue denim also made the cut, but it was accompanied by metal studs. It was all about the shine for this fashion house this season.

The cast-mates from Glee have lent their musical talents for a Fashion’s Night Out promotion.  FNO’s is the annual global shopping event in September.  This video features the usual suspects, Lea Michele in Balmain, Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch and the rest of the gang.  We are treated to their rendition of David Bowie’s “Fashion.”  They are stylish and effortless as they sing and strut down the runway.

Zoe Saldana made a dramatic entrance in her Balmain look at the Miami screening of Colombiana.  The embroidered dress was short in front, and then extended into a full length that swept the floor.  It was a combination of cream, tan and brown with a Spanish feel.  This outfit was strong, including the strappy stiletto sandals; it took on some of the persona of her character in the new movie.

Zoe Saldana  rocked a Balmain shorts suit at the premiere of Captain America: The First Avenger.  She showcased her legs in the printed bottom and matching jacket with a white V-neck T-shirt underneath.  The look was casual, but sexy enough for the red carpet.  Her studded Brian Atwood was the perfect accessory, along with the envelope clutch.  I loved her hair with the side-swept bangs in loo

Emma Watson made an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in a metallic Balmain design. The silver dress was fully textured with dazzling sequins and a sheer navy strip at the hemline. It was asymmetrical with one sleeve and a bold shoulder. This is a fashion forward look for the actress who wore her hair in a sleek style. Her makeup was pretty with soft understated shades. A pair of platform Christian Louboutin wedges completed this rocking look.

Kristen Stewart in Balmain – she wore a cutting-edgestrapless minidress affixed with safety pins throughout.  A pair of black heel completed her look.

Leighton Meester in Balmain – she opted for long sleeves and a short hemline with this fully embellished dress.  A strappy pair of high-heeled sandals with lots of sparkle was the perfect finishing touch.

Mila Kunis in Balmain – a metallic mini skirt with beautiful patterns was paired with a simple long sleeved asymmetrical T-shirt.

Rachel McAdams covers Elle magazine’s June 2011 issue in Balmain.  The beige jacket came from the Spring 2011 collection.  It was embellished with gold studs in the collar, lapel and sleeves.  A white T-shirt, black leather pants and a wrist full of bangles completed her look.  Her hair was in large curls and her lip color was a bright red that pop.  I love her sheepish grin and that adorable pose.

Balmain brought rocker girl chic to the runway in Paris for Fall 2011.  Think micro-mini-dresses, sexy hot pants and structured jackets.  This was the season of metallic beadwork in silver and a multi-colored pattern.  The jackets were sleek, some adorned in fur and others fully embellished in dazzling beads.  It’s young and sexy, and a little bad-ass.  Even the T-shirts were cut at an angle, revealing the midriff.  The Balmain girl plays by her own rules, and even wears white in the fall.

Kate  Moss is in front of the cameras once again, this time for Balmain’s Spring 2011 ad campaign.  Here is a video of the behind the scenes photo shoot captured by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.  The film footage were captured by a surveillance-styled camera which lended an artistic quality to the end product.  Kate’s movements were recorded and animated graphics were edited into this black and white mini film project,
