Beyonce has a new L’Oreal commercial, and it is clear the lips have it.  She is wearing a lip color so red it rivals the shade on actual strawberries.  If it can stay true during the singer’s on-stage performance, then sign me up.  Her Infallible Never Fail Lipcolor will be perfect for the red carpet, cue the makeup artist for the Emmy’s next month.  L’Oreal struck gold when they selected Beyonce as their spokesperson, sure they’re probably paying a pretty penny, but ‘she’s worth it.’

Burberry has a new 96-piece beauty collection ready to debut in July.  Though legendary for its trench coats, this is the fashion house’s first foray into makeup.  Chief creative officer Christopher Bailey compares the new line to Burberry’s trench coats.   If that’s the case, we should expect timeless and enduring beauty from this collection.  Models Rosie Huntington, Lily Donaldson and Nina Porter look absolutely stunning in the makeup.  If only we could all look as good in Burberry’s beauty line?  You can pick up your best shade of lipstick or foundation at Nordstrom or Burberry.com.

Tom Ford launched a new line of lipsticks in 12 glorious colors.  The colors range from the barest nude to the deepest berry.  Anything bearing this designer’s name has to be luxe, and it’s priced accordingly.  Each tube retails for $45.  Maybe Tom Ford’s Private Blend Lipstick collection is the cashmere of lip color.  He works wonders with the silhouette, it’s only fitting he would do the same with the pout.  We know lip color is to the face what shoes are to the outfit, indispensable.  The beautiful white packaging with ‘TF’ lasered into the lip color will make this temptation hard to resist.  You can pick up your favorite shade at the usual suspects - Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Meet the newest face of CoverGirl, country singer Taylor Swift who professes her love of makeup.  Swift joins Ellen DeGeneres, Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore and Rihanna as ambassadors of the the beauty company.  She’s among an impressive list of women.  CoverGirl is Swift’s first campaign ad, and she explains that ”[she] wanted to sort of show how makeup can play up your natural features.”  She is a good choice for the brand because of her wholesome image, and her ability to appeal to a broad audience.  Her enthusiam for the product is also a major plus.  “When I go on stage, I get to play with my look and try on all kinds of different colors — try red lips tonight, purple eyeshadow tomorrow,” says Taylor.  Now she will get paid to play with as much makeup as she wants.  One of the many perks of the job.

Women have been painting on exaggerated lips and injecting collagen into their lips for as far back as we can remember, and now we know they were on the right track.  Research shows women with fuller lips are deemed to look younger than their thinner lipped counterparts.  That’s good news for those with fuller pouts, and Angelina Jolie has yet another reason to thank her lucky stars: she has beauty, pouty lips and Brad Pitt.  The news is not so good for thinner lipped women because the lips gets even thinner as we get older.  If you were not blessed with Angelina’s pout, all is not lost, there are several products out there to enhance the lips.  I imagine many of them are walking off department store shelves as I write.

So we’ve talked about the clothing trends and accessories for fall, but what about beauty?  Our face is a canvass afterall.  There are two primary areas for us to work with, the eyes or the lips.  We know a lady should never do both, unless she’s a geisha or on the second leg of her world tour.  Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I would like to focus on the lips because bold lip color is the beauty trend for fall.  The lip colors come in various shades of reds and burgundies, just choose the right hue for your complexion.  These colors will definitely brighten your face and mood during the winter months of cold weather and overcast skies.  Take a look at the video below to get your fall beauty fix. 

Project Runway returns to the airwaves this week, so it seems fitting to highlight Christian Siriano’s make-up line at Victoria’s Secret.  Siriano is the winner of season 4 on the reality hit.  He worked as a make-up artist when he first moved to New York, and now he is a designer.  Not bad, a make-up artist and a fashion designer.  It obviously pays to be versatile in this economy.  The lip glosses are very tempting; I’m more of a lip gloss and mascara kind of girl, but he has bronzers, eye shadows, eyeliners and the like.  Now we can get our push-up bras and Christian Siriano’s lip gloss in one shot.  It works for me.

I can’t believe the 4^th of July weekend is already upon us.  You know what that means; it’s time for sun dresses, mini-skirts and short shorts.  All of these clothing items have one thing in common, the need for great looking skin.  My own personal routine includes eating avocados, sardines and drinking a lot of water.  Exercise also gives the skin a great glow.  Oh, I can’t forget, you must moisturize, moisturize, moisture.  Check out this video and see the beauty tips model Alejandra uses for great looking skin in-between spa treatments.  She suggests facial masks, toners, and natural sponges to remove the masks, and believes the best beauty tip of all is to prevent problems before they begin.  I couldn’t agree more.

Tom Ford was in London to promote the launch of his fragrance, Bois Marocain.  The designer is all about sensuality and created this fragrance around the belief that scent is one way humans are attracted to each other, and sensuality is about relationships with people.  Mr. Ford believes that fragrance is a way to have accessible luxury, especially during these turbulent times.  He used great care and paid close attention to details in creating his scent and he obviously uses the same standards when he designs.

Johnny Lavoy’s summer make-up tips are youthful and fresh.  Who knew there were so many uses for bronzer?  You can use it as an eye shadow and a blush.  Again, who knew?  Lavoy extends the summer trend of bright colors in fashion onto the face and it is beautiful, he suggests that we play with corals, pinks and greens.  Of course no good make-up tip is complete without advice on good skin care.  All you’ll need now is a pair of sunglasses to maintain your mystery.
