Michelle Williams in Chanel at Critics Choice Movie Awards

Michelle Williams opted for a Chanel gown in classic black-and-white for the Critics Choice Movie Awards. It was a belted dress with a wrap-style design and padded shoulders for structure. An unexpected straight hem fell onto the floor.

Her satin clutch was also from the label. A pair of diamond studded earrings were from Fred Leighton for Forevermark.

The makeup was understated and her lip color was in an earthy palette, it complemented her reddish brown hair. She added a dramatic flare to the red carpet, and I liked it.

Chanel Spring 2012 Ad Campaign Stars Joan Smalls & Saskia de Brauw

Chanel selected models Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw for the Spring 2012 campaign. The black-and-white ads were shot by designer Karl Lagerfeld.

I always love movement in photography and these images did not disappoint. Even more impressive was the photographer’s ability to work the refined looks within an athletic theme. Note the balance beams, parallel bars, swimming and the horse.

Lagerfeld did a great job of conveying not only the beauty of the pieces, but their ease and versatility. I also loved the artistry and poses of the models; their grace and strength should be applauded.

Celebrity Street Style: Rosie Hungtington-Whiteley Grocery Shops with Chanel Bag

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley made going to the grocery store a stylish adventure in leather leggings and a Chanel purse. The model also wore an off-the-shoulder top and suede boots while shopping in West Hollywood. Her choice of neutral colors in green, cream and taupe blended nicely with her bluish-green designer bag and her brown sunglasses.

The hair was in a messy ponytail and her makeup was sheer and subtle. This ensemble looks great on her, but it’s tricky to pull it off like she did. I know not to try this look at home.

Freida Pinto in Chanel at Label’s Paris Bombay Show

Freida Pinto attended the Chanel Paris Bombay Show in the label’s light blue confection. The actress wore a knee-length dress with spaghetti straps and an iridescent shine. It had a poofy skirt and ruffled details throughout. Her frock was sweet, but she gave it an edgy vibe with a pair of black shoe boots and leather belt. She styled her hair with a center-part and glossy waves and texture.

Emma Stone in Chanel at MoMA Film Benefit

Emma Stone wore an elegant Chanel design to the label’s party for Pedro Almodovar at the MoMA Film Benefit event. It was in an elegant black-and-white print. This dress was all about the details; it was in the cinched waist, applique at the shoulder and in the ruching on the upper skirt. It reminded me of a traditional Asian attire. Look at the silhouette; from the width of the shoulder, to a narrow waist and an even narrower hemline. The brand’s chain-strap evening bag completed her outfit for the evening. She was stunning in this gown. I loved the up-do because of its reserve and sophistication. Her makeup was classically beautiful, with a red lip color to complement her rosy cheeks.

Chanel – RTW Spring 2012

Images via NYMag

Karl Lagerfeld reinvented Chanel for Spring 2012. This was evidenced by the leather jacket and pearls combination. It was one of my favorites because of the the message it conveyed. It said the fashion house is also courting its client’s younger daughters. The collection was young and modern, think minis and printed dresses in blush, pink and mint green. There were many pretty pieces with colorful, graphic prints. The signature Chanel looks were also present in tweed, but they had new silhouettes. It was easily one of my favorite runway shows from this label in recent seasons. Lagerfeld was recharged, and it was obvious. The bathing suits were sexy, yet concealing, modest. I loved the architectural details and extra puff on the sleeves and hemlines. This show was exciting because it was unexpected. The designer wisely opted for minimal hair to keep focus on the clothes.

Emma Stone in Chanel at ‘The Help’ Premiere

Emma Stone made a red carpet entrance in a vintage-inspired Chanel couture design at The Help premiere.  The muted tone ensemble was an elegant choice, along with its dropped waist and mid-thigh slit.  It had a  fully draped asymmetrical skirt, and was embellished at the neckline, sleeves and waistline.  She accessorized with neutral high-heels that elongated her legs, and gave her more height.  I loved the shape of her ivory evening bag with the gold chain strap, it completed that retro vibe.

Chanel Fall 2011 Ad Campaign

Image via The Cut

Chanel’s new Fall 2011 campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld, and styled by Carine Roitfeld.  The images were captured in a photo booth.  Model Freja Beha Erichsen was the subject in these ads, and she brought just enough playfulness and whimsy to make them work.  I love that they played with proportions, they added a forest green bolero jacket over a black blazer.  The lace look was daring because of the illusion of nudity, but the veil over her face gave it an artistic quality.
