Fashion’s Night Out 2010 PSA: A Model Year

The models came out in full force in support of Fashion’s Night Out Spring 2010 PSA.  This worldwide event is held annually to support the fashion and retail industries; it takes place on September 10th.  A televised special on the shopping event on steroids will be aired on CBS on September 15th.  Last year FNO was among the most exciting events during fashion week.  Fortunately, it is shaping up to be even grander this year.  The evening is also about shopping for a cause, forty-percent of the proceeds from the Fashion’s Night Out T-Shirts will go to the New York City AIDS Fund.  Some of the biggest names within the modeling industry appear in the public service announcement, Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Liya Kebede, Karolina Kurkova, Lara Stone, Miranda Kerr, Chanel Iman, Lily Donaldson and Sasha Pivovarova to name a few.  Let these ladies be your tour guide as they travel throughout New York City.

Naomi Campbell and Dolce & Gabbana Design T-Shirts for Charity

Naomi Campbell and Dolce & Gabbana have collaborated on a collection of 14 T-shirts for charity.  Each tee has an image of the supermodel that was captured by some of the most acclaimed fashion photographers, like David La Chapelle, Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Meisel and Paolo Roversi to name a few.  Fashion for Relief is Campbell’s charity, and it raise funds whenever an urgent need arises globally.  This organization mobilizes the fashion industry from within to help society at large.  You can get a signed tee from the supermodel at Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th at Dolce & Gabbana’s Madison Avenue store in New York City.  They will be sold for $200 each, but remember that the proceeds will go to a worthy cause.

Fashion’s Night Out Designed New Collection

Fashion’s Night Out has designed a new collection of T-shirts, it includes a tank top, long and short sleeved tees and a unisex hoodie.  You can get yours online or in many major department stores.  Forty-percent of the proceeds from the sales will go to the New York City AIDS Fund.  The tank is priced at $20, and the hoodie for $60.  Ladies, the tank would go perfectly with a great pair of jeans.  This event has gotten so huge that you will have no problem finding these pieces in stores.  Get into the spirit of the evening, and support a worthy cause.

Mad Men’s Auction for Charity

Mad Men brings us drama and excitement every Sunday evening, and now the show is adding philanthropy to its line-up.  They are holding an online charity auction to raise funds for the Lung Cancer Center at California’s City of Hope.  We are all enthralled by the 1960′s era drama, especially the wardrobe. The ladies are so elegantly dressed, and that may bring about a bit of style envy.  Fortunately, the clothes are included in the auction.  Maybe you want to dress like a siren like Joan, a sophisticate like Betty or a conservative like Peggy.  You can bid on clothing worn by these characters, and it goes to a worthy cause.  If the wardrobe is not your thing, items from the fictional advertising agency is also available.  Those items would be office furniture and other knickknacks.  Now we can all get our hands on the enviable wardrobe and the cool props, and it’s only a click away.

Jean Paul Gaultier Designs T-Shirt for Charity

Jean Paul Gaultier has designed a limited-edition T-shirt for the Born HIV Free campaign.  The Global Fund’s new campaign is aimed at getting out the message that “… no child should be born with HIV…,” says Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.  Bruni-Sarkozy is not only the First Lady of France, she is also the ambassador for the charity.  It makes perfect sense that she would be the face of the campaign, and she urges us to get involved in a public service announcement below.  Let’s face it, the tee is pretty awesome, and the cause, life-saving.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Seinfeld Co-host Baby Buggy Benefit

Gwyneth Paltrow co-hosted the Baby Buggy benefit last night with Jessica Seinfeld.  Comedian Jerry Seinfeld was on hand to support his wife’s charity at the Balenciaga store in East Hampton.  The evening of shopping will benefit Baby Buggy which provides clothing, supplies and products to infants and young children of families in need.  It’s always great to see celebrities giving back and enlisting their peers to do the same.  The fact that they give back stylishly is merely a bonus.

Elton John’s White Tie and Tiara Ball

Celebrities came out to support Elton John and his 12th Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball in London this evening.  Chopard teams up with the singer every year to raise money to help in the fight against AIDS.   The proceeds from the event goes to The Elton John AIDS Foundation.  Kate Beckinsale, David Furnish, Lily Cole, Jon Bon Jovi, Kelly and Sharon Osbourne, Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar are just a few friends who came out for the event.  There is no better excuse for an evening of glamour than a worthy cause.

Donna Karan Designs T-shirt for Saks’ Key to the Cure

Three dynamos have teamed up in the fight against cancer.  Actress Uma Thurman was named the new ambassador for Saks’ Key for the Cure annual event this year.  Donna Karan designed the T-shirt to raise funds that will help eradicate the disease.   The designer says, “[f]or me, it’s not just about dressing women; it’s about addressing the issues that are so important to all of us.”  Uma Thurman takes the mantle from model Heidi Klum who served as ambassador last year.  “Everyone I know has been affected by breast cancer one way or the other,” says Thurman. “It is vital that we work toward a cure as well as develop more accurate and advance testing.”  The long-sleeved T-shirt has a great graphic print with various shades of pink.  It will retail for $35 each and sold at Saks Fifth Avenue stores, and online at Saks.com.  Get ready to start shopping for a good cause on October 1st when it goes on sale.    All of the proceeds raised will go to local charities.  The annual shopping event will be from October 19th – 24th.

DKNY Joins Couture for a Cure to Fight Cancer

DKNY joined Couture for a Cure for its second annual runway show to help the fight against cancer on May 25th.  The designer presented her Spring 2010 collection in Washington, DC to raise funds for the worthy cause.  Their mission this year, to honor cancer survivors and to pay tribute to those lost.  All of the proceeds from the event went to benefit The Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

Donna Karan champions this cause because she has lost both her husband and best friend to the disease.  “Cancer has touched all of our lives in one way or another,” says Karan.  “To fight this dreadful disease, we have to come together as a community of compassion and consciousness.  Couture for Cure uses fashion as a platform to celebrate survivors and honor those we’ve lost.  Together we have the power to make a difference.”  DKNY and Couture for a Cure made our Rollcall list this week because of their service to society and their willingness to lead by example.
