Leighton Meester in Christian Dior at LA Premiere of Country Strong

Image via Who What Wear

Leighton Meester wore Christian Dior to the Los Angeles premiere of Country Strong.  She was playful and sexy in this mini-dress with ultra feminine details from the Spring 2011 collection.  Her halter dress was a fun mix of colorful confetti, and the shoes were Pierre Hardy platforms in a yummy pink and orange; the same colors within her dress.  They were also from the Spring 2011 collection.  The hair was a mass of soft glossy curls, and her makeup fresh and pretty.  This is a great look for a young starlet to a less formal red carpet event.

Video: Marion Cotillard – Lady Dior in Lady Grey

Watch Marion Cotillard in the final chapter of her Lady Dior campaign.  The actress stars in the fourth installment of a series of short films, this one was Lady Grey, by John Cameron Mitchell.  Marion plays a burlesque dancer with an enviable collection of Dior accessories, namely the grey bag that’s prominently featured.  Actor Ian McKellen is the male lead whom she granted the ability to walk in the end, but I digress.  Throughout the film you will enjoy pieces from the Christian Dior collection, like a gorgeous strapless sequin dress worn in her on- stage performance and a mini trench coat Marion wears as she makes her final exit.

Jessica Alba Covers Elle Mag’s December 2010 Issue

Jessica Alba is the cover of Elle magazine’s December 2010 issue.  The actress is pretty in pink wearing a gorgeous retro look from Christian Dior’s Resort 2011 collection.  Elle opted for a springtime cover for the winter Holiday season.  It was either crazy or genius to go for a warm weather look; though I suspect many are already craving a vacation in the Caribbean at this juncture.  The orange and pink YSL two-piece is one of my favorites from the photo spread.  Her shoot was feminine and pretty- girly pieces, soft makeup and tousled hair; the perfect beginnings for fun in the sun.

Freida Pinto was in Christian Dior at the Miral premiere during the 2010 Doha Tribeca Film Festival.  She wore an aquamarine blue gown with exquisite embellishment in the bodice and flowing chiffon in the skirt.  Freida was the picture of glamour in this look from Dior’s 2011 Resort collection.  The dress was accompanied by embellished metallic high heel sandals and a beaded evening bag fully complementing the top portion of her dress.  Her hair was pinned up, revealing her only jewelry for the evening, a pair of earrings.  The actress owned that red carpet.

Blake Lively At Vertu Smartphone Launch Event

Blake Lively looked hot and youthful at Vertu’s smartphone launch party last night in New York City.  The actress wore a ruffled fuchsia Christian Dior dress from the Pre-Fall collection paired with a leather jacket, black tights and a pair of Christian Louboutin.  You can never go wrong when you combine a soft pretty dress with a rocking leather jacket.  The tights gave her look an edgier vibe, instead of simply pretty in pink.

Paris: Christian Dior Spring 2011

Images via NYMag

Christian Dior was inspired by the navy and sailors for Spring 2011, but to an ultra-glamorous degree.  The fashion house delighted us with vibrant colors in the sheerest of fabrics and tantalized with strategic cut-outs.  The dresses came in turquoise, yellow, purple, orange and pink along with a couple of prints, one floral, the other more leaf-like.  It was an explosion of color on this runway, even down to the accessories.  Big, bright and bold necklaces were on hand, and they were definitely making a statement.  My favorite were the shoes that came in various colors of the rainbow and were deliberately paired with looks to avoid the matchy-matchy syndrome; the same went for the necklaces.  The hair and makeup screamed Old Hollywood and the dresses also took some of their inspiration from that era.  Each dress was flirtatious and had been designed for movement and excitement.

Runway: Christian Dior Couture Fall 2010

Images via NYmag

The simplest way to sum up Christian Dior’s Fall 2010 Haute Couture show is to deem it a lesson in perfection, but that barely covers the colors, shapes and magnificence of the collection.  It was a bouquet of splendor on display for all to admire.  Many connected instantly with the collection because it was daring and bold, yet at the height of femininity.  We also marvelled at John Galliano’s ability to bring the Botanical Garden to the runway.  There is genuine excitement about this show because it was like attending an art exhibition of one of our favorite artists.  Dior’s Fall 2010 collection lived up to our preconceived notions of haute couture, and in true showman fashion, Galliano has left us wanting more.

Dior showcased it’s Resort 2011 collection in Shanghai over the weekend.  They had beautiful gowns in lovely pastel colors that are reminiscent of sorbet.  One-by-one, gowns in colors like raspberry, peach, lemon, orange, grape and lime floated down the runway.  The collection was very lady-like and feminine with beautiful accents of sequins through-out.  Wonderful details of ruffles and tiered-layers highlighted the ethereal nature of the pieces.

Today the skies were blue, and the sun was shining brilliantly.  Spring is finally here, okay it’s not official yet, but work with me.  It felt like we were stuck in a never-ending winter, but now that it’s here, it’s time to trade-in our bulky coats for lighter gear.  What could be more perfect for warmer weather than the trench?  The spring 2010 trench is nothing like your mother’s jacket; it’s been updated and re-worked to make us fall in love all over again with this classic wardrobe staple.

Burberry Prorsum started with the classic trench, and they never cease to amaze us with their ability to remain a dominant force in this market.  The draping on this trench is stunning.  It’s so beautiful, that it could be worn as a dress.  I love the proportions, especially the three-quarter length sleeves.

Celine removed the sleeves from this classic coat, and made it look like a desirable shirt dress.  It’s both sleek and modern.  A jacket like this will have you yearning for a few raindrops just so you can throw it on and go.

3.1 Phillip Lim brought us the fun vinyl trench in fire engine red.  You can tell this sporty coat was made to get wet in the rain.  If the rain doesn’t cooperate, then you have the option of a water balloon fight.  Hey, you have to take it out for a test drive.

Christian Dior’s leather trench is super sexy and sultry.  The tan color is the only thing traditional about this hip-length beauty.  Take this one out day or night, and it will show that you are a card carrying member in the business of personal style.
