Paris: Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2011
Giles Deacon’s first collection for Emanuel Ungaro was pretty and feminine. It had lace, feathers, fringe and even flower appliques. He presented the collection in a flower garden, the looks were surrounded by their inspiration. The colors were soft and unassuming, like lilac, barely pink, powder blue, mint green, but were contrasted with the color black. Those black pieces were of a sheer lace that had its own floral pattern, so it too was light enough for the pastels. Even the prints were of a floral design. He captured nature in his designs with all its optimism and possibilities. There was a duality to this collection, the peek-a-boo looks were overtly sexy, but were mixed in with more modest and reserved pieces. Spring 2011 at Emanuel Ungaro will be about the bloom of a new season and the beauty naturally occurring in nature.
