Behind the Scenes: Christina Hendrick’s London Fog Campaign

Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks is the new spokesperson for London Fog.  We usually associate the actress with gorgeous dresses that are flattering to her figure, and I envision that Hendricks will do wonders for trench coats.  She appears in the labels Fall 2010 ad campaign shot by photographer Nino Munoz.  Former leading ladies at London Fog includes Gisele Bundchen and Eva Longoria.  The ads are quite alluring and surprisingly high-fashion.  It’s safe to say that the company will definitely see an increase in sales, sooner than later.

Alexander Wang Taps Zoe Kravitz for Fall 2010 Ad

Zoe Kravitz is one of the new faces of Alexander Wang’s Fall 2010 ad campaign.  The daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet has grown up.  This collaboration was tailor-made because she has the cool girl credibility needed to front this brand.  It’s no secret that Zoe has been a loyal follower of the label, and it has paid off big time.  Dan Jackson captured the black-and-white shot with model Max Motta.  New Yorkers will get the larger than life effect of the ad on billboards starting Monday, August 16th.

Alexander Wang’s Video Ad Campaign for Fall 2010

Alexander Wang has a new video ad campaign for his Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collection.  The campaign was shot by Craig McDean and styled by Karl Templer.  It draws you in because of the speed of the images flashing across the screen as well as the sensuality of the movements.  The dimly lit room with paint chipped walls contrasted nicely with the luxury of the satin and lace fabrics in the collection.  Juxtaposing the gritty with the refined is one way to create visual interest, and it works.

Zuhair Murad – Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Katy Perry wore a Zuhair Murad dress during the photo shoot for her new album, Teenage Dream.  The musician selected an emerald green tulle and beaded mini dress with cut-outs.  Her dress came from Murad’s Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collection.  It has a sexy bondage vibe, softened by the delicate silk chiffon fabric surrounding the bodice and arms.  The emerald color goes perfectly with her long dark hair, and provides a beautiful contrast.  Though this dress might be short on fabric, it’s big on personality, if Perry’s poses are any indication.  Pairing the celebrity with the right dress is always key, and this dress is very Katy Perry.

Esteban Cortazar Is Back for Fall 2010

Designer Esteban Cortazar was back in full effect for the Colombiamoda fair in Colombia.  He is the former designer at Emanuel Ungaro, Cortazar left after Lindsay Lohan was hired as a consultant.  The Fall 2010 collection is definitely his major comeback onto the fashion scene.  It was youthful and unquestionably hot.  His collection had great shapes and layering, combined with gorgeous styling.  Leather and minidresses were featured prominently on this runway in many form fitting ways.  It will be enough to leave you yearning for fall because you would still feel the heat from all the leather, leopard print and curve hugging fit.

DKNY Debuts Fall 2010 Ad

DKNY launched it’s Fall 2010 ad campaign today, and it will leave you yearning for colder weather.  Fall is the time to do simple chic, and the ad achieved that in spades.  The classic neutral color palette of gray, brown, camel and black was combined with on-trend pieces.  In addition to neutrals, the ad was infused with colorful winter vests styled differently to showcase their versatility.  The stylist also placed the versatility of the collection on display; the campaign reflected the sporty, parochial and the refined DKNY girl.  They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and I say variety and options are a close second.

Scarlett Johansson for Mango’s Fall 2010 Ad

Scarlett Johansson continues her reign as the face of Mango for a third season.  The actress teamed up once again with photographer Mario Sorrenti for the Fall 2010 ad campaign.  She looks beautiful as she strikes a pose in a chair and stands in a doorway.  British country classics were the inspiration for the collection, and the knits and vibrant print are a part of that aesthetic.  Camilla Nickerson styled the shoot, and she shows us once again how the right pair of shoes and belt can make a look.  Just one look at the ad and you can see that Scarlett and Mango are a perfect fit.

Runway: Elie Saab Couture Fall 2010

Images via NYMag

Sparkle, sequins and gold dominated Elie Saab’s Couture Fall 2010 collection.  The gowns floated down the runway in beautiful fall colors of red, gold, taupe, seafoam green and a print so lovely it brings to mind the frescoes in Italy.  We saw draping, beading and oragami pleating that was simply breathtaking on the breezy silk chiffon.  Saab opted for full on glamour and opulence with his fabric selection.  Only the construction and careful attention to details rivaled those choices.  The collection is reminiscent of the fashion from the television series in the 1980′s, Dynasty, but it’s the updated version for the 21st century

Runway: Christian Dior Couture Fall 2010

Images via NYmag

The simplest way to sum up Christian Dior’s Fall 2010 Haute Couture show is to deem it a lesson in perfection, but that barely covers the colors, shapes and magnificence of the collection.  It was a bouquet of splendor on display for all to admire.  Many connected instantly with the collection because it was daring and bold, yet at the height of femininity.  We also marvelled at John Galliano’s ability to bring the Botanical Garden to the runway.  There is genuine excitement about this show because it was like attending an art exhibition of one of our favorite artists.  Dior’s Fall 2010 collection lived up to our preconceived notions of haute couture, and in true showman fashion, Galliano has left us wanting more.
