Versace – RTW Spring 2012

Versace was a mix of pretty short dresses and long sexy gowns for Spring 2012. The color palette was soft in light blue, yellow, grey and white. Subdued prints of lavender on a pristine background also made their way down the runway. Many of the looks were adorned with gold studded hardware that transformed the pieces into a beautiful design. These embellishments were also featured on the bags. The pencil skirts with bandeau tops were noteworthy because of the proportions and superb fit.

D&G – RTW Spring 2012

D&G offered gorgeous prints in the most majestic colors for Spring 2012. Flowy dresses in various lengths and styles took to the runway in Milan. This was easily one of the label’s best collection. Sadly, it will also be its last. Proportion and fit played a central role, right alongside fabulous textile. I coveted everything that made it’s way down the catwalk, the gowns and the minis. If I had to describe the show in one word, it would be ‘stunning.’

Alberta Ferretti – RTW Spring 2012

Alberta Ferretti brought us almost all the colors of the rainbow in her Sping 2012 collection.  Vivid blues, greens and reds were a vision to behold on this runway.  There were pastel in sight, it was all about the richness and decadence each look.  A few Fall hues made their way down the catwalk in rust, brown and marigold.  The lookswere light and easy, they will translate beautifully in day-to-day living.  I loved that texture played a central role in these pieces, it was evident in the prints, textile

Gucci – RTW Spring 2012

Gucci took its inspiration from the roaring twenties for its Spring 2012 collection.  The flapper look ruled this runway, but it was updated for the 21st Century in shimmering black and gold.  We are in for a bold season with this brand, forget subdued pastel colors.  These looks were sexy in dazzling metallics, and many with architectural details.    Let’s not forget the fringes and boas, both were hallmarks of that time period.

DKNY – RTW Spring 2012

DKNY brought the streets of New York City onto the runway for Spring 2012.  Yellow taxi cabs were the backdrop to a collection mixed with structure and ease.  This was represented in the tailored pant suits and flowy dresses respectively.  I tend to favor fitted over loose fit, but the dresses and tops here had the perfect proportion in their hemlines and slits.  The red, white and blue color palette was dramatic, and even patriotic, but it was the monochromatic pink looks that had me salivating in an instant.  Those hats were also noteworthy, they added a bit of cosmopolitan chic to the collection.

Rebecca Taylor – RTW Spring 2012

Rebecca Taylor brought sheer softness to the runway for Spring 2012.  The designer opted for subdued colors with feminine and flowy details; that always makes the pieces more sophisticated.  Pops of orange and yellow were the accents in this neutral color palette.  My favorite look was the orange sequin top and cream skirt with a ton of movement, it was where polish and personality converged.  The Hollywood set will flock to this collection because of its stylish, simplicity and ease.
