Emily Blunt Covers the January 2011 UK Issue of Harper’s Bazaar

Emily Blunt covers the January 2011 UK issue of Harper’s Bazaar in Tom Ford.  The cobalt blue dress has furry fringes throughout, including the bodice and sleeves and has a great fit.  It’s extremely editorial and an obvious choice for the cover, especially in front of a sky blue background.  The dress is  from Ford’s Spring 2011 collection.  Bold red lips, neutral eyes and strong brows were used to complement the avant garde nature of her look.  Photographer Paola Kudacki was behind the lense for the shoot, and it took on an earthy element.  Each refined piece worn by the actress was beautifully highlighted by the rocks and other elements present in nature.

Here are images of Tom Ford’s Spring 2011 runway show from Harper’s Bazaar UK.  They feature notables like Beyonce, Liya Kebede, Daphne Guinness and Joan Smalls to name a few who walked this catwalk; clearly no ordinary fashion show.  Photographer Terry Richardson took these exclusive images from the show in September 2010.  The collection is rich in prints, texture and shimmer.  We will be seeing these pieces on the red carpet sooner than later, right where they belong.

Crystal Renn’s Harper’s Bazaar Shoot – Resort 2011 Looks

Michael Kors – Resort 2011

Ralph Lauren – Resort 2011

Calvin Klein – Resort 2011

Crystal Renn worked it for the cameras at her Harper’s Bazaar shoot for the December  2010 issue.  The model showed-off her skills while wearing looks from the Resort 2011 collections of various designers; here we have Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.  From the looks of these pieces, we are in for an incredibly chic resort season.  Crystal rocked this editorial, I loved the movement in each photo, it made the clothes come to life.   The pieces were gorgeous on their own, but Renn totally sold them.  Even her hair was an active participant in the shoot

Katy Perry Covers the December 2010 Issue of Harper’s Bazaar

Katy Perry covers the December 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar in festive metallic silver.  Of course they would make the December issue sparkly for the Holiday season.  The color even complements her eyes giving them a greyish tint.  She wears a gold dress inside with tons of embellishment; it’s gold and adorned with feathers and beading, this dress definitely has qualities from the Byzantine art era.   You will also find a few black and white images where she looks very Old Hollywood.  Inside she talks about her now husband, Russell Brand, and his spirituality as well as her thoughts on other female pop stars.  Pick up your copy at the newsstand on Tuesday, November 23rd to find out more.

Balmain’s Little Gold Dress — On Six Mag Covers

Balmain has a little gold dress that has graced the covers of six magazines worldwide.  This dress is apparently looking to unseat the ubiquitous little black dress.  The cocktail dress dazzles from metallic beading, and has a plunging V-neckline that is accompanied by a thigh-high slit.  It has ruched and exaggerated shoulders and is fully textured throughout.  This dress is from the Fall 2010 collection and it’s seen a lot of action since its debut.  It’s been making the magazine rounds since the August 2010 issue of German Vogue.  Vogue India featured it on its October cover, and so did Zeit for its 40th Anniversary issue  Spanish Vogue got into the action for its November cover as did 10 for their Fall cover.  British Harper’s Bazaar features the said dress on its December issue, it was likely chosen for its festive qualities; few could resist sparkling gold for the Holidays.

Images via Fashionising

Gisele Bundchen is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s UK 2010 September issue.  The supermodel is also featured in an editorial spread inside.  Photographer Cedric Buchet captured her in a series of sultry poses.  Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou styled Bundchen in beautiful lace with a side of thigh-high stockings and garter belt.  Just a visual flashback to her Victoria’s Secret days.  She shows us once again why she is the world’s highest paid model, and she does it with such ease.

Fashion Mags Ad Figures Were Slender In 2009

Publishers and editors are no doubt going over the numbers for their ad revenues, as well as their competitors,  and the numbers are not unexpected.  The magazine industry has been rocked by the closings of well-known titles this year alone.  Ad sales were down across the board for fashion magazines, but some fared better that others.  When you look at Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and In Style, you find that In Style had the most advertising pages out of the four this year.  In Style was followed by Elle, Vogue and then Harper’s Bazaar.  The most interesting piece of information from the numbers is that In Style and Elle took over the top spot that was held by Vogue in 2008Of course the recession has taken a chunk out of advertising, but Elle and In Style are making gains.  Cost cutting has been the mantra of the magazine industry in 2009, and fashion magazines are finding that they too must tighten their designer belts.
