Jean Paul Gaultier gives us a preview of his Spring 2011 ad campaign starring models Karolina Kurkova and Andrej Pejic.  Pleated trench coats, fishnet stockings and a bold attitude gives this campaign its edge.  The red stamp bearing the brands name plays well with the black-and-white image, its placement even made it appear provocative; the models’ embrace made it daring.  The ad was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Victoria Beckham takes over the cover of Marie Claire’s November issue.  The  entertainer turned fashion designer looks great in the magazine.  She wears a gorgeous bra from Jean Paul Gaultier’s La Perla Collection and Eres panty on the cover.  The bra was so architectural and visually interesting that she needed no accessories.  Beckham looks strong and beautiful with the sculpted hair and exaggerated shoulders.  Not many women could pull off confidence and power in their undergarments, but Mrs. Beckham can.

Paris: Hermes Spring 2011

Hermes’ runway show for Spring 2011 was a show-stopper in the City of Lights.  Jean Paul Gaultier turned out a memorable collection and show that we will not soon forget long after his successor, Christophe Lemaire takes the reigns next season.  It was a show within a show.  He gave us horses and spectacular pieces.  The collection was accessory laden, from hats, gloves to the legendary Birkin bag in various shapes.  Even whips made their way down the runway.  This divine collection was styled in the form of Western wear, but no cowgirl has ever been this refined.  Leather and suede dominated the collection, think leather shorts, hats and bustiers.  I may have seen a vest with a faux holster.  It had all the drama of a Broadway show, much like the capes that hung breezily behind the models in the most dramatic fashion as they came down the runway.  We were given an orange, green, black, tan and bourbon color palette; it was rich and well suited for this iconic collection.  Gaultier gets kudos for delivering a show and a collection that were equally exciting.   This was his last show at Hermes, and he saved the best for last.

Jean Paul Gaultier Designs T-Shirt for Charity

Jean Paul Gaultier has designed a limited-edition T-shirt for the Born HIV Free campaign.  The Global Fund’s new campaign is aimed at getting out the message that “… no child should be born with HIV…,” says Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.  Bruni-Sarkozy is not only the First Lady of France, she is also the ambassador for the charity.  It makes perfect sense that she would be the face of the campaign, and she urges us to get involved in a public service announcement below.  Let’s face it, the tee is pretty awesome, and the cause, life-saving.

Crystal Renn for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Ad Campaign

Crystal Renn and Jean Paul Gaultier have teamed up once again, this time for the label’s Autumn/Winter 2010 – 2011 ad campaign.  The two first came together when Renn walked JPG’s runway for his Spring 2006 show.  Kelly Moreira is also in the ad shot by Inez and Vinoodh.  The accessories practically leap off the page, and hopefully into my closet.

Jean Paul Gaultier Designs Lingerie With La Perla

Jean Paul Gaultier – Spring 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier’s venture into lingerie may have reached great heights with Madonna’s cone bras in the 1990′s, but he is making even greater strides with a new partnership with La Perla.  “In my latest prêt-à-porter collection I revisited the conical bras and corsets worn as outerwear,” says Gaultier. “This collaboration was a natural and logical step, especially since La Perla is the pearl of the lingerie, with the best savoir faire.”  We will get a sneak peek at two limited-edition pieces during his haute couture show on July 7th.  Look for a back-stitch strapless bra and a garter belt.  The collection will be available in stores in November.  Ladies, you can start hinting to your significant other about your Christmas gift.

Jean Paul Gaultier Leaves Hermes – 2003-2010

Jean Paul Gaultier will leave Hermes after seven years at the fashion house.  The designer took the reins from Martin Margiela in 2003 to much acclaim.  Christophe Lemaire will be Gaultier’s replacement, and he is currently the artistic director of womenswear at the French label.  Lemaire will also leave his post at Lacoste, where he is creative director, in September after his Spring 2011 show.  Gaultier’s final collection at Hermes will be for Spring 2011.  The Fall 2011 season will usher-in the new creative director at the helm.  Hermes is not severing all ties, the company still retains a 45 percent stake in Jean Paul Gaultier’s namesake label.  JPG will continue as creative director at his own label for both ready-to-wear and couture.
