Jil Sander – RTW Spring 2012

Images via NYMag

Jil Sander offered crisp white looks for Spring 2012, but it was the prints and plaids that captured my imagination. There was a retro feel to the shapes along with a modern touch. The blue patterns were simple, yet ultra chic; they were perfectly suited for those silhouettes. Each piece was updated and current even with its 1950′s inspiration.

Jil Sander Fall 2011 Collection – RTW

Images via Elle.com

Jil Sander’s Fall 2011 collection was a lesson in minimalism for the 21st Century.  It was pure and unadorned by embroidery or embellishment.  The collection had a healthy mix of neutrals and brights.  They used colors and a floral print quite skillfully; they took the place of the superfluous.  Each dress was cut with expert precision which allowed them to take on the perfect shapes.  This was controlled volumed at its best.  Hemlines hovered at the knee because the Jil Sander woman is as modest as she is modern.

Drew Barrymore in Jil Sander at Covergirl Event

Drew Barrymore scored major points in this strapless Jil Sander dress at the Covergirl 50th Anniversary event.  We are often starved for vibrant color in the winter months, so a pop of color can be nourishing to our style sensibilities.  This tangerine beauty has a loose fit and perfect proportions.  It’s clean and modern, and the mermaid hemline sealed the deal.  Her hair kept with the theme of the dress, straight and sleek.  Drew kept it simple with her accessories as well, a black evening bag and a cocktail ring.  The bright lip and nail colors finished-off her flawless look.

The Jil Sander line, +J, is almost here, it arrives at Uniqlo on Thursday, October 1st.  When the two decided to team up for womens, mens and accessories it was simply genius. Jil Sander is best known for it’s minimalist aesthetic and Uniqlo is known for its affordable prices, the two together created magic.  One of the best part of this collaboration is that no one item will exceed $150; that’s good news for the pocketbook.  The collection will practically walk off the racks.  If you want a look at what’s in store for you on Thursday, click here.  Remember to wear comfortable shoes because you might be standing on line.  You can also shop online if you do not want to brave the crowds.

Jil Sander’s Uniqlo Line

We’ve named Jil Sander’s Uniqlo +J line to our Rollcall list this week. It is their new affordable line, and it hits stores on October 1st. Admittedly, I haven’t been this excited about a new clothing line in a while. October cannot get here fast enough. I have my eyes on the pleated mini skirts as well as the blazer, they would go great with a pair of tights, cashmere scarf and ankle boots. Am I the only one looking forward to the fall weather? The high-end Jil Sander collection is usually loaded with great knits, cashmeres, and beautiful coats all sleek with clean modern lines. Yes, I am a major fan of the Jil Sander line, and it’s great to see the Uniqlo line so closely in step with the original. Click here to see what we have to look forward to in October. These pieces will practically walk off the racks.
