Kate Hudson in Stella McCartney at 2011 British Fashion Awards

Kate Hudson wore an eye-catching, one-shouldered Stella McCartney design to the 2011 British Fashion Awards in London. She wore a sultry black gown with a sexy cut-out mesh detail on the left side. It was fitted and floor length with a matching floral applique. Her hair was in a sophisticated high bun and her makeup was flawless in a neutral palette with a nude lip color.

The stars came out for the 17th Annual Elle Women in Hollywood Tribute last night in Los Angeles.  It is the ultimate ladies night out.  Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Diane Kruger, Molly Sims, Anna Kendrick and Rachel Zoe were only some of the celebrities who attended this worthwhile event.  The evening was more cocktail chic than black tie, and color was seemingly everywhere.  Calvin Klein dressed several of the attendees, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Diane Kruger and Rachel Zoe.  Kate Hudson selected Prabal Gurung for the evening and Molly Sims donned Elise Overland.

Elle’s November Covers 2010: Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow & Hilary Swank

Lovely ladies from the big screen grace three covers for Elle magazine’s November 2010 issues.  Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Hilary Swank are not only Hollywood leading ladies, they are also Elle’s cover girls.  Kate wears a gorgeous Marc Jacobs dress that is simply perfection.  The ivory and pink combination is pure confection when combined with the lovey lace appliques.  Hilary wears a white long-sleeved Calvin Klein dress, it’s beauty comes from the sleek design and clean lines.  Column dresses always flatter the actress’ figure.  Gwyneth is in a blush colored Chloe dress with embellishment on the bodice, simple yet classic just like the actress.  Talent, beauty and style are winning combinations, and these ladies clearly have all three.

My fantasy dress pick for the 2010 Oscars would have been this Balmain Fall 2010 runway look worn by Kate Hudson.  Alas, neither the gown nor Ms. Hudson were present last night.

On the Red Carpet:

Kate Hudson did it again, two weeks in a row.  We named her the best dressed at the Golden Globes last week, and she takes top honors again in this Emilio Pucci dress.  White is obviously Ms. Hudson’s color and it becoming a favorite on the red carpet.  The fit of this gown was perfect, from the deceptively demure front to the jaw dropping back.

Diane Kruger looked glamourous in her mustard colored Jason Wu gown.  She did a great job at channeling the starlets of old hollywood.  Her jewelry, hair and make-up complemented this gorgeous chiffon number.  The dress perfectly sculpted her body and the color was extremely flattering to her skintone.

Marion Cotillard was young and edgy at the SAG Awards and we appreciated it.  She continued the one shoulder trend in an off-white beaded dress by Elie Saab.  The mix of beads and feathers made this dress a bold choice and she wore it well.  The color and length made this a refreshing sight on the red carpet.

Sandra Bullock wisely selected this Alexander McQueen gown.  It showcased a very flattering silhouette.  The structured shoulders landed this gown on the best dressed list.  It looked very modern and the royal blue beading served as the icing on the cake.

Lea Michele Everything was right with this Catherine Malandrino dress, the low V-cut front and the floor length finish elongated her figure.  The color worked beautifully with her hair color and lightly bronzed skin.  We’re looking forward to seeing her on the red carpet more often.

Red Carpet at 2010 Golden Globes:

Kate Hudson gets our best dressed vote because of the shape and structure of her gown.  The actress was one of four clients styled by Rachel Zoe at the Globes, and she had us talking about the gown, not her personal life.  Her gown stood out because it was a visual delight, the eyes wanted to feast on each origami fold.

Drew Barrymore’s Versace Atelier gown was beautifully draped and beaded.  The nude color was also on trend.  Many questioned the embellishments attached to the shoulder and hip, but I say that Drew has the personality to pull it off.  All I can see here is glitz and glamour, and that’s just what the Golden Globes ordered.

Emily Blunt’s Dolce & Gabanna gown was elegant and sweet on the red carpet.  The bustier top, fitted skirt and a slight mermaid bottom provided the actress with a beautiful silhouette.  The gown followed both the ruffled and color trend of the evening.  She was accompanined by her fiance John Krasinski in Prada.

January Jones was loe’ly in Lanvin.  The back cut-out and perfectly sculpted ruffles make this gown a stand-out instead of relegating it as ‘just another black dress’.  It was deceptively simple with intricate detailing.

Chloe Sevigny made the list because she selected this Valentino gown that many women would not have attempted on the red carpet.  It’s a beautiful gown that challenges the narrow standards of beauty.  The gown needed a woman who had a strong sense of self, and it found that in Chloe.
