V Magazine: Marc Jacobs, Lady Gaga and Liya Kebede

Marc Jacobs and Lady Gaga cover the Fall 2010 issue of V Magazine.  Also featured are Liya Kebede and Andre Balazs among other prominent names in the annual New York issue.  Fashion photograher Mario Testino captured the images of these amazing talents on film.  If you had any doubt that this was the New York issue, a partially dressed Gaga with her own interpretation of Lady Liberty’s crown and torch should clue you in.  The cover is very artistic, bordering on genius.  If I were a betting woman, I would bet that Lady Gaga was, um, wearing a Marc Jacobs gown.  Marc Jacobs is the fashion designer with leading man good looks, and he gives us his best side profile as he sits on a television set that could have come straight out of the 1950′s.

Model Liya Kebede and hotelier Andre Balazs are obviously channeling uber-chic Upper-East-Siders in their spread.  The two are dressed up to the nines for a shopping trip that included an apparent stop at Michael Kors’ boutique.  Testino’s tell tale sign that this was a scene from the streets of New York would be the trash bin on the corner with an empty pizza deliver box inside.  The spread includes other famous names like Chloe Sevigny, Marina Abramovic and Debbie Harry to name a few.  Nicola Formichetti styled this amazing photoshoot.

Red Carpet Looks:

Couture came to the Grammy’s this year, and its arrival signaled a look towards the future.  We were granted a preview of the future of fashion in the new decade, and all is well.

Lady Gaga set the bar for the evening.  Her Armani Prive gown was designed and built to stimulate our visual senses.  Gaga was orbited by perfectly manicured glittery strips that could double as a shield to keep away intruders.  So that’s what it looks like to have the world revolve around you.  Let’s not forget the tights and shoes which brought the singer’s look to greater heights.

Rhianna could have been the heroine in any sci fi film with this Elie Saab Couture gown.  Her hair and make up were flawless, and perfectly completed the look.  The structured shoulders gave this gown its futuristic vibe, and all traces of the last decade evaporated.

Ciara made a bold choice with this selection.  If Rhianna was the heroine, Ciara was the gorgeous villainess in Givenchy Couture.  It is sheer lace and textured with just enough embellishments.  The look says welcome to the future, and the future is badass.

Lady Gaga Performs on Oprah: Video

The fashion world is enamored with Lady Gaga, and we can hardly contain our excitement when Gaga meets Oprah.  She talks to the queen of daytime and gives an amazing performance.  Gaga wore an embellished one-shoulder jumpsuit and wore her hair with spikey bangs with a bun in back.

Gaga revealed that she prefers to drop the Lady from her name, and be called Gaga.  We are also treated to backstage footage of her concert; it’s refreshing to see how involved she is making sure she gives her audience the very best performance.

The audience received heartbeat headphones from the music star.  Oprah appreciated the gift as well, she explained she wore them to the gym and hoped someone would ask about them.

Lady Gaga performed songs from her album Fame Monster.  She gave us a sample of The Fame, Bad Romance, and Speechless.  The six time Grammy nominated singer delivered a thrilling performance.  She shows us that she’s clearly an artist with much to say.

Lady Gaga in McQueen for ‘Bad Romance’ Video

Lady Gaga does it once again, she manages to titillate in her “Bad Romance” video.  The video has a very futuristic vibe, and not surprisingly, Alexander McQueen’s spring 2010 collection is sprinkled throughout.  The opening scene showcases one of McQueen’s metallic gold looks for spring.  His shoes are also prominently featured, and rightfully so, they’ve been the talk of Paris Fashion Week and beyond.  Watch with caution though, you might find yourself caught in the madness of Lady Gaga, and love it.
