Video: Vogue July 2010 Cover: Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard is on the cover of U.S. Vogue’s July 2010 issue.  The French actress is both glamorous and regal in her purple Dior dress.  Fashion photographer Mario Testino shot the cover in the South of France, and the purple dress is reminiscent of the bold burgundy wines from that region.  Cotillard talks movies and her character inspirations in the magazine interview.  She also credits her Oscar-winning performance in  La Vie en Rose with opening many doors and creating great career opportunities.

The Met Gala is practically a fashion show on the red carpet, and it did not disappoint last night.  The bold-named and the beautiful came out in large numbers last night.  Many were dressed and accompanied by some of the biggest names in fashion.  We compiled a list of the best dressed.  Let us know if you agree.

1. Sarah Jessica Parker is always at home on the red carpet.  The actress looked stunning in her Halston Heritage gown last night.  Her pleated gown maintained the design integrity of Halston while staying true to SJP’s personal style.  Her hair and accessories played the perfect supporting role to the dress.

2. Marion Cotillard went Hollywood glam in her Dior gown.  She sparkled like a star from head-to-toe.  The be-jeweled neckline and her hair in beautiful soft waves completed the look.

3. Zoe Saldana was sleek and sexy in her one-shoulder Calvin Klein gown.  The beaded black dress was stunningly simple while adorned with only a few accessories.  It proves that sometimes the understated makes just right statement.

4. Anne Hathaway was Cinderella in her strapless Valentino gown.  Her diamond necklace went perfectly with the brilliant sequins surrounding the bodice and full skirt.  Hathaway was definitely the beautiful princess last night.

5. Jessica Alba channeled Old Hollywood with her hair, makeup and that gorgeous dress designed by Sophie Theallet for GAP.  Satin can be a very tricky fabric because it can make you appear larger, but Alba was trim and svelte last night.  That’s because of the expert draping of the designer and the actress’ figure.  Jessica Alba has donated her gown for auction and all proceeds will go to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in support of The Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

Marion Cotillard for Lady Dior

French actress Marion Cotillard is once again the face of Lady Dior.  The new “Lady Blue” campaign marks Cotillard’s third stint with the label.  Steven Klein shot the ad in Shanghai, and the view is picture perfect.  John Galliano chose the right woman for Lady Dior because she’s beautiful, yet there is a complexity about her that is very enchanting.  Cotillard was also featured in a 12-minute film shot by David Lynch for the house that will debut on May 15th.  Not so coincidentally, Galliano will also unveil Dior’s cruise collection in Shanghai on that same day. It appears having an actress as your model really does pay off, she gives great face and good acting.  Annie Leibovitz shot the second ad, the “Lady Rouge” campaign with the actress, and you can watch the behind the scenes footage of that shoot in the video below.  Both the bags and shoes could leave you with the age old dilemma of rent or shoes.

On the Red Carpet:

Kate Hudson did it again, two weeks in a row.  We named her the best dressed at the Golden Globes last week, and she takes top honors again in this Emilio Pucci dress.  White is obviously Ms. Hudson’s color and it becoming a favorite on the red carpet.  The fit of this gown was perfect, from the deceptively demure front to the jaw dropping back.

Diane Kruger looked glamourous in her mustard colored Jason Wu gown.  She did a great job at channeling the starlets of old hollywood.  Her jewelry, hair and make-up complemented this gorgeous chiffon number.  The dress perfectly sculpted her body and the color was extremely flattering to her skintone.

Marion Cotillard was young and edgy at the SAG Awards and we appreciated it.  She continued the one shoulder trend in an off-white beaded dress by Elie Saab.  The mix of beads and feathers made this dress a bold choice and she wore it well.  The color and length made this a refreshing sight on the red carpet.

Sandra Bullock wisely selected this Alexander McQueen gown.  It showcased a very flattering silhouette.  The structured shoulders landed this gown on the best dressed list.  It looked very modern and the royal blue beading served as the icing on the cake.

Lea Michele Everything was right with this Catherine Malandrino dress, the low V-cut front and the floor length finish elongated her figure.  The color worked beautifully with her hair color and lightly bronzed skin.  We’re looking forward to seeing her on the red carpet more often.
