Carlos Miele Fall 2011 Collection – RTW

Carlos Miele had vibrant colors, luxe furs and one-piece jumpsuits on his runway for Fall 2011.  The colors cobalt blue,  chartreuse and red played a central role in a sea of black pieces.  Each look was beautiful, and made in luxurious fabrics like silk, satin and chiffon.  The furs increased the richness and decadence of the collection.  Several of these gowns should take their turn down the red carpet because of their beauty and unique designs.

MBFW: New York – L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani Spring 2011

L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani is easily one the most successful celebrity clothing line out there.  It is also one of the most coveted tickets during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.  Stefani designed a collection for Spring 2011 that she could easily rock.

Here we have the little black dress with a drop waist in a light and sheer fabric.  The details on the sleeves and hem, along with the sexy lower back makes for a feminine and flirty dress.

This dress is very similar to the little black dress, but in a diagonally striped pattern that gives it a more casual vibe.

Now we have a casual denim look with a pattern on the top and a unique patchwork print skirt.

There were a few sexy military-inspired looks for spring in army green.  This two-toned top with one-shoulder could probably get you enlisted.

The second military look bares a midriff and a statement necklace, let’s hope only one of those will be in-trend for the season.  I’ll take the necklace please.  It’s accessorized with a bag and bracelet to glam it up.  This was a beautiful and well thought-out collection with Gwen Stefani’s signature style woven throughout.

MBFW: New York – Naeem Khan Spring 2011

Naeem Khan’s Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection was a showcase of bold colors, fantastic prints and his signature embellishments.  The olive caftan dress embodies effortless beauty without sacrificing glamour.

Navy and white are elevated to a higher-level with a full skirt in a playful print and a white top that dazzles from shiny beading.

Model Sessilee Lopez in a sheer red gown with strategically placed jewel-embellishments.  Her dress had a peek-a-boo effect without revealing too much.

This gown was all about the fabric, the black print and beading on chartreuse provided a beautiful contrast.

Here we have Khan’s version of simple elegance in a button-down taupe top and a gorgeous floor-length beaded skirt in white.

This gown was stunning not merely because it was beautifully made, but because the tie-dyed print was a work of art.

MBFW: New York – Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2011

Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring 2011 collection was a case of peek-a-boo elegance.  Sheer fabric was placed over opaque pieces to form a sexy illusion of seeing the forbidden, it was a beautiful use of the overlay.  Gorgeous cocktail dresses and gowns took to Mizrahi’s runway in floral prints and dazzling metallic embellishments.  That was in addition to the neutrals of nude and black.  It was sophistication with an edge; demure yet alluring.  The designer achieved lady-like glamour on a grand scale.

MBFW: New York – Zang Toi Spring 2011

Western music played in the background of Zang Toi’s Spring 2011 runway tent prior to the start of the show.  It was a prelude to the pieces that would come down the runway.

The audience was shocked and thrilled to see the Western-inspired looks on the catwalk.  Each was fully equipped with a black cowboy hat for both the male and female models.

The mood soon changed as cocktail dresses and beautiful gowns made their way down the runway.  A few had this lovely floral print that evoked both femininity and romance.

The room was pretty charged by the time this gown was opened-up to release its full splendor.

Then came the show-stopper.  This gown was at the height of femininity and beauty.  It rivaled any beautiful bouquet.

The audience reveled in this sweet pleated confection with appliques of roses.

Here we have the designer, Zang Toi, in a playful pose in white next to his models.  The mood and energy in the room accelerated throughout the show.

MBFW: New York – Argentine Designers Spring 2011

Argentine Designers showcased six designers for Spring 2011.  Each approached the season from different points of view:

1. La Dolfina designed by Pablo Ramirez: Some were very literal, like the equestrian-inspired looks that first hit the runway by La Dolfina designed by Pablo Ramirez.  It consisted of polo shirts, tailored leather blazers and white button-up shirts; each look was finished-off with the mandatory scarf for polish.

2. Laura Valenzuela:  Designer Laura Valenzuela followed with a light and heavenly collection of beautiful ivory dresses in the sheerest fabrics.   The appliques gave it an almost fairy-tale quality, but without the extreme whimsy.  It was a pretty and demurely sexy collection.

3. Evangelina Bomparola: Evangelina Bomparola gave us very wearable pieces  just short of black-tie.  Satin and sheer fabrics were just two of the materials used in this black, white and blush pink collection.  The color palette lended to its formality.

4. Marcelo Senra: We now have Marcel Senra whose looks were more ethnic and tribal.  The collection had beautiful patterns and textures in a warm color palette.  This designer took a little more risk than the others, and showed us variety and depth in his collection.

5. Maria Pryor: Thoughts of the Elizabethan-era came to mind as I viewed this collection.  It may have been the exaggerated sleeves; their traditional hair accessories also reminicent of another time.  The dresses were pretty, and the overall styling made this collection one of the stand-outs.

6. Pablo Ramirez’ namesake line: Pablo Ramirez showcased a gorgeous collection of high-waisted pants and skirts with beautifully-tailored jackets.  He did it with dramatic flair; large black hats were placed over the white scarves covering the models’ hair and necks.  Large black gloves completed the package.  The styling was theatrical and each piece was well-made.

MBFW: New York – Rebecca Moses Spring 2011

Rebecca Moses’ Spring 2011 presentation took us on a worldly excursion to Paris, Biarritz all the way to the Pyramids in Giza.

The collection is quite befitting of a lady… Here we have the classic black-and-white which brings instant sophistication at a moments notice.

The little black dress turned up the heat with a deep plunging back.

Her collection was also rich in prints and stripes that gave it great texture.

It’s settled, mixing prints and stripes are a universally chic idea…

MBFW: New York – Andy & Debb Spring 2011

Andy & Debb gave us architectural shapes, desirable patterns and gorgeous tie-dyed prints for Spring 2011.

This dress has a retro-inspired look with an updated shape and geometric patterns.

There is a 1960′s vibe … with a very modern twist, hence the plunging neckline.

Patterns have a way of bringing visual interest and texture to a collection.

Color blocking for the win in the spring…
