Prada – RTW Spring 2012

Images via NYMag

Prada was a haven of beautiful prints, and a mix of texture and sheen for Spring 2012. The shades ranged from the subtle to the decadent, like blush pink and rich brown respectively. Luxe textile was met with a retro silhouette, and the result was magic. Those coats made quite an impact at first sight in all their statement-making glory. Let’s not forget the leather pieces, the skirts were divine in both design and fit. This collection was the epitome of everyday glamour.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada at ‘Contagion’ Premiere at Venice Film Festival

Gwyneth Paltrow was a stunner in a champagne colored Prada gown at the premiere of Contagion at the Venice Film Festival.  The high neckline and sleeveless confection won me over instantly.  A drop-waist and perfect bow completed this luxurious silk look.  She accessorized with a matching clutch, and a dazzling pair of diamond earrings from Bulgari.  Her straight golden tresses fully complemented the soft blush of her dress.

Anne Hathaway Covers Harper’s Bazaar August 2011 in Gucci

Anne Hathaway covers Harper’s Bazaar for the month of August 2011 in a glamorous Gucci gown.  It was a red dress with a cascade of gorgeous ruffles, and a plunging neckline.  Her editorial was equally fabulous, think of an outrageously opulent Alexander McQueen look with luxurious details and texture in the skirt.  She’s also pictured in a geometric patterned Prada coat, and a marvelously embroidered Miu Miu piece for the subscribers’ issue.  The delight on her face is evident, it’s like playing dress-up for the camera.

Emma Watson covers the July 2011 issue of Vogue in Prada, it’s from the Fall 2011 collection.  It had large scaled sequins in an apricot color in the bodice and a wine hue in the skirt.  The actress looks very dramatic in this shot, bold berry lips were dramatic and they balanced her strong brows.  Her hair was sleek and styled all back. Inside her editorial took on a metallic theme in both silver and gold.  A bronze meshed top with embroidery on the sleeves, and a textured multi-colored miniskirt was a Tom Ford design.

Amanda Seyfried covers Marie Claire for April 2011.  The actress gracesthe newsstand issue in Chanel, and the subscribers issue in Prada.  Both are from their respective Spring 2011 collections.  Her editorial is very romantic, think floral, feminine and animal prints.    Even the props conveyed the theme, like a blanket with rose appliques affixed or a white piece of tulle fabric used as a barrier between Amanda and the camera.  The designers inside ranged from Emilio Pucci to Roberto Cavalli.Photographer Matthias Vriens-McGrath captured these beautiful images.

Prada Fall 2011 Collection – RTW

Prada for Fall 2011 was a lesson in plaid, bold colors, dropped waists and sequins.  The collection was also rich in fur, python and textures.  There were almost as many coats as they were minidresses, many in plaid, and some in sequins.  These were no ordinary sequins, they were large and scale like those of a fish.  The colors ranged from bold red to pristine white.  Many of the pieces were beautifully tailored in gorgeous shapes, and contained eye-catching details.  Let’s not forget the accessories, python boots reaching the mid-calf and vibrant colored bags that matched the fabric selection perfectly.

Watch: Prada Spring 2011 Campaign Video

The video for Prada’s Spring 2011 ad campaign is as fun and lively as the collection itself.  It has a catchy beat and great rhythmic movements, the prints and stripes were in perfect harmony.  They danced while keeping the apparel and accessories carefully in view, and the bags, hats and bowas served as props.  The colors and prints practically leaped off the screen because of their vibrancy.

Carey Mulligan in Prada at Palm Spring Int’l Film Festival

Image via The Telegraph

Carey Mulligan was ladylike in Prada at the 22nd annual Desert Palm Achievement Awards during the Palm Spring International Film Festival over the weekend.  Her dress was in a pewter color with gold threading woven throughout that formed a lovely pattern.  The gold threading perfectly complemented her blond hair.  It had a beautiful boatneck neckline, short sleeves and knee-length hem.  This is another way to do feminine without ruffles or lace; classic and elegant.  Carey accessorized with a black belt and a pair of black platformed shoes.  Her makeup was pretty and neutral, and she is in the process of growing out her short hair cut.
