MBFW: New York – Logan Neitzel Spring 2011

We know designer Logan Neitzel from Lifetime’s Project Runway.  The make up was phenomenal at Neitzel’s show; the models were made up as mannequins and they were very convincing.

He  showcased wearable pieces that can be mixed and matched according to your mood.  The designer accessorized some of the looks that made them go from cool to uber-cool.  The leather belt with shoulder straps up front on the left, and the feathered sleeved shrug-like jacket attached to the burgundy dress, in back, are just two such items.

The collection was sexy, but in a subtle way.  Each model looked both confident and comfortable in the pieces, and that’s the end goal.

Leanne Marshall Fall 2010 Collection

leannemarshallfall2010eleannemarshallfall2010

Leanne Marshall’s signature style was all over her Fall 2010 collection.  The designer was the winner of Project Runway season  5.  She’s proven this season that her win was not a fluke.  Her aesthetic is for ornate beauty, and she brings that to her designs. One jacket was layered with beautiful scalloped edges inside the pockets, now that’s attention to detail.  Leanne’s ability to sculpt beautiful flowers from ordinary fabric is a truly an artform.  The lady knows how to make feminine dresses that women will want to wear.  Teal, cream and black were her color choices, and her intricate appliques took the place of prints.  The prints were not missed because her designs provided the texture and patterns we would have longed for.  Leanne is one to watch because she will only get better, and her development in the upcoming seasons is truly an exciting prospect.

Victoria’s Secret: Christian Siriano Make-up

Project Runway returns to the airwaves this week, so it seems fitting to highlight Christian Siriano’s make-up line at Victoria’s Secret.  Siriano is the winner of season 4 on the reality hit.  He worked as a make-up artist when he first moved to New York, and now he is a designer.  Not bad, a make-up artist and a fashion designer.  It obviously pays to be versatile in this economy.  The lip glosses are very tempting; I’m more of a lip gloss and mascara kind of girl, but he has bronzers, eye shadows, eyeliners and the like.  Now we can get our push-up bras and Christian Siriano’s lip gloss in one shot.  It works for me.

‘Project Runway’ Returns

How long has it been since the last season of Project Runway?  The move from Bravo to Lifetime caught us off-guard, but I didn’t think it would take about two years to get my next fix.  Michael Kors is one of my favorite designers, and his stock has only gone up with the show.  Take a look at this video and hear why Michael Kors, Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia believe Project Runway became a hit.  It will be great to hear the brutally honest critiques from Michael Kors and Nina Garcia again; hopefully they won’t become a kinder and gentler panel because of the network switch.  Tim Gunn may have been the biggest beneficiary of this show because he is so likeable, and his rapport with the designers is truly special.  I can’t wait to hear the next catch phrase from Tim this season.  Project Runway returns on Thursday, lets hope it was worth the wait.
