Michelle Obama in Ralph Lauren at UK Dinner Party

Michelle Obama stepped out in another gorgeous gown in the United Kingdom, this time she wore Ralph Lauren.  President and Mrs. O hosted a dinner at the residence of the United States Ambassador to the UK.  Her off-the shoulder dress was the convergence of black satin with crepe to create a stunning look.  The top was fitted in the bodice and the skirt fell beautifully to the floor.  Her silver statement necklace benefited from her portrait neckline, it stood out.  I loved that she added the cuff bracelet and cocktail ring.

Katie Holmes in Ralph Lauren at The Kennedys Premiere

Katie Holmes wore Ralph Lauren to The Kennedys premiere last night. Her dress had tank-styled straps and a flirty hemline. It was a sweet blue ensemble that simply challenged spring to appear. She accessorized with a nude pair of J.Crew strappy sandals that elongated her legs. Katie’s hair had a center-part and it fell casually upon her shoulders.

Crystal Renn’s Harper’s Bazaar Shoot – Resort 2011 Looks

Michael Kors – Resort 2011

Ralph Lauren – Resort 2011

Calvin Klein – Resort 2011

Crystal Renn worked it for the cameras at her Harper’s Bazaar shoot for the December  2010 issue.  The model showed-off her skills while wearing looks from the Resort 2011 collections of various designers; here we have Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.  From the looks of these pieces, we are in for an incredibly chic resort season.  Crystal rocked this editorial, I loved the movement in each photo, it made the clothes come to life.   The pieces were gorgeous on their own, but Renn totally sold them.  Even her hair was an active participant in the shoot

Fashion Designers Won’t Name Successors

karl_lagerfeld-blogSome of the most established fashion designers might be considering their successors following their departure, but they’re not talking.  Designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani are all in their 70′s, and thoughts of retirement must weigh heavily.  Even if their successors have been named, the designers are keeping silent.  Lagerfeld has already decided that he will work forever, and Chanel has publically stated that “[h]is succession is not on the agenda.” Armani, de la Renta and Lauren are the founders of their respective houses and their departure will definitely leave a void.  Any successor will be confronted with a true legacy.

So far successors of other notable fashion houses have been faced with challenges that saw them leaving prematurely and/or unceremoniously.  Tom Ford had a negative experience at Yves Saint Laurent and Lars Nilsson was essentially forced out at Gianfranco Ferre.  For now, Martin Margiela is the only house to forgo the successor route; the founder Martin Margiela will not be replaced.  Will other fashion houses take this path?  The answer will likely be dependent on the next two or three seasons at Martin Margiela, and the Margiela experiment.

Summer Weekend Dreams

It was a hot one today.  We asked for it, and we received temperatures in the upper eighties.  The day was perfect for the beach; unfortunately many of us were far away from the beach.  Am I the only one looking forward to the weekend?  Sure it’s only Monday, but it’s good to get an early start.  I’ll have to stick close to home, but it doesn’t mean I won’t be dreaming of being elsewhere.  Hopefully swimsuits will be the uniform of choice, and the Ralph Lauren red bikini is a good one.

‘Tis The Season

Ladies, it’s that time of year again.  No, not tax season, it’s swimsuit season.  Okay the season is not quite here yet, but it is slowly approaching.  For some this is welcomed news.  For the rest of us it is as exciting as going to the dentist, but it does not have to be that way.

It is a New Year, new attitude.  It’s out with the old, ill-fitting suits, negative self-images, and boyfriends that no longer fit nor encourage a healthy self-image.  Let’s do away with all the anxiety of getting into a swimsuit and focus more on finding the right fit for our bodies.

Why don’t we use this time to love and appreciate ourselves rather than torture ourselves?  We should do the things that improve our self-esteem, which would include a healthy lifestyle.  When you feel good, you look good.

Just picture you throwing off those winter jackets and donning a sexy bikini or one piece.  The swimsuits for summer 2009 are just what the doctor ordered to rid us of our winter blues.  Ralph Lauren’s Blue Label swimsuits come in great colors like red, white, and the yellow is especially hot this summer.

Seize the day.  Do not be intimidated by your mirror, stop looking at your ‘rear’ view and look ahead.
