I am a big fan of black-and-white photography because it has the ability to capture your imagination. Photographers Mert & Marcus were able to do just that with these shots.

The images are tame and appropriate for the targeted audience. Sure, there is a hint of sensuality, but it was restrained.

That said, I loved her hair, it’s such a soft look on her. Her makeup was gorgeous as well, the eyes and cheeks were flawless.

Rihanna ushered in the New Year at a Miami bash wearing a belted Tom Ford design. She wore a black lace dress with a keyhole neckline and a sassy-and-sweet vibe.

It also boasted sheer sleeves and a mid-thigh hemline. She accessorized with pointy-toe heels with criss-cross straps.

Her hair was a mass of curls styled into a high ponytail with bangs. I loved that her tresses mimicked the texture in her frock. The makeup was dramatic and punctuated with a scarlett red lip color.

Rihanna walked the red carpet in a white Max Azria pantsuit at the 2011 Billboard Awards.  Her look was chic, classic and sexy.  It was one of the more relaxed outfits for the evening, yet it still left an impression.  The low-cut shirt and blazer made it elegant enough for this event.  Her hair and makeup were definitely ready for their closeup.  A pair of tan heels with a pointy toe completed her outfit.

Rihanna is the cover girl for Vogue’s April 2011 issue and it’s a fiery debut.  Her hair is red hot and the dress is a low-cut figure hugging beauty.  It’s from the Chanel pre-Fall 2011 collection, and it highlighted the pop diva’s attributes on the cover.  Inside the singer sports a shorter hair-cut and bodysuit in one photo, she looks more like the girl next door in that shot.  The long locks make up the rest of the editorial, and these pictures are more tranquil and serene

The 2011 Grammy Awards found the stars dressed to impressed in some of your favorite designers.  It was an evening of both leg and cleavage baring action on the red carpet.  The Grammys, where celebrities are willing to take a risk or be risque all in the name of creativity.  This is where the daring are rewarded for taking a chance.  Some went for the shorter hemline or thigh-high slit, while others opted for the sheer and transparent look.  It’s all done in the name of fashion.  Who was your best dressed?

Images of Rihanna’s new fragrance has been released months before its debut, and it is extremely luxurious.  The singer is attired in pastel satin as she clutches a single rose to her lips in full-on hair and makeup, and that’s just the packaging.  It’s a sensual shot, she appears to be in deep thought as if she longs for her lover.  A very loose translation of the perfume’s name would be ‘rebellious flower.’  Even the shape of the fragrance bottle does not conform, it’s unique cylinder shape widens as you get to the base. 

Rihanna covers the December 2010 issue of Interview magazine.  This is a gorgeous cover, from the vibrant hues down to the confident shot of the singer.  It has a very artistic element.  Everything works, from the huge bouquet of flowers down to the black-and-gold look she wears, there is just enough skin revealed.  You will want to pick this issue up when it hits the newsstands because Kanye West interviews Rihanna inside.

Rihanna wa gorgeous in Marchesa at the MTV Europe Music Awards yesterday.  This gown was a show-stopper.  The one-shoulder blush pink ruched confection was a fantasy brought to life.  It was a formidable dress with gorgeous tulle and exquisite detail throughout.  The train alone was regal and dramatic.  Her gown was formal for the event, so she was obviously making a statement; message received Rihanna, you ran the red carpet last night.

Rihanna covers Marie Claire’s UK December 2010 issue.  She looks great on both the newsstand and subscription covers.  The white Mark Fast dress makes a rocking cover, it has the sparkling embellishment and wow factor fitting for a rock star, peek-a-boo cut-outs included.  Her fiery red hair provides a super high contrast to the cool hue of the white and silver.  The newsstand cover is more of a close-up beauty shot, but she is wearing an outrageous feather Sonia Rykiel dress in pink.  She went for the statement maker with that look, even the make-up is bold, yet pretty.  Here hair color is closer to the pink dress, but it’s equally dramatic.

Rihanna covers the July issue of Elle magazine.  The singer wears a gold and purple sequin mini dress that looks to be from Balmain’s fall 2010 collection.  Her cover was shot by photographer Tom Munro.  She opens up about her music, her thoughts on fashion, new love and past troubles.  Regarding her album art she states, “[I] wanted pictures that represented strength and fearlessness but still femininity—a strong woman who can be vulnerable.  Every woman is made up of vulnerability and strength; no matter what race you are, no matter what you’ve been through in your life.  Every woman has that strength that is undeniable, but we also have really big hearts.  It’s just us.”  Those are very empowering words from a 22-year old who has experienced so much in the last year.  Be sure to pick up your copy when it hits newsstands on Tuesday, June 15th.
