Forbes’ List of Highest Paid Actresses Are Red Carpet Darlings

Images via Google

It should come as no surprise that the ladies we love to see on the red carpet are also the highest paid actresses in Hollywood.  We love their style and poise both on and off the big screen.  According to Forbes, America’s sweetheart Sandra Bullock ranked number one at $56 million for the year.  Bullock was followed by Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz who tied at $32 million.  Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker rounded out the top five with $27 million and $25 million respectively.  Nothing beats the lethal combination of brains, beauty and bank in Hollywood.

Sex and the City 2 Premiere: Red Carpet Fashion

Sarah Jessica Parker wore Valentino to the Sex and the City 2 premiere at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last night.  It was a one-shoulder canary yellow gown to complement her flowing golden locks.

Kristin Davis was pretty in pink in her Jean Desses gown for Decades.  It was a beautiful column dress with wonderful ruching.  Kristin wore a loose chignon that was regal and it complemented her dress perfectly.

Cynthia Nixon was glamorous in Carolina Herrera.  The fitted strapless gown looked great on the actress, and it was one of her best red carpet moments.  Her shoulder-length strawberry blonde curls was also a good choice for the evening.  A pair of earrings and an evening bag were her sole accessories.

Kim Cattrall sparkled in Naeem Khan.  Her slinky gold gown was bejeweled with sequined stars throughout.  Kim smartly opted for minimal jewelry and a beautiful evening bag.

Met Gala 2010: Top 5 Best Dressed

The Met Gala is practically a fashion show on the red carpet, and it did not disappoint last night.  The bold-named and the beautiful came out in large numbers last night.  Many were dressed and accompanied by some of the biggest names in fashion.  We compiled a list of the best dressed.  Let us know if you agree.

1. Sarah Jessica Parker is always at home on the red carpet.  The actress looked stunning in her Halston Heritage gown last night.  Her pleated gown maintained the design integrity of Halston while staying true to SJP’s personal style.  Her hair and accessories played the perfect supporting role to the dress.

2. Marion Cotillard went Hollywood glam in her Dior gown.  She sparkled like a star from head-to-toe.  The be-jeweled neckline and her hair in beautiful soft waves completed the look.

3. Zoe Saldana was sleek and sexy in her one-shoulder Calvin Klein gown.  The beaded black dress was stunningly simple while adorned with only a few accessories.  It proves that sometimes the understated makes just right statement.

4. Anne Hathaway was Cinderella in her strapless Valentino gown.  Her diamond necklace went perfectly with the brilliant sequins surrounding the bodice and full skirt.  Hathaway was definitely the beautiful princess last night.

5. Jessica Alba channeled Old Hollywood with her hair, makeup and that gorgeous dress designed by Sophie Theallet for GAP.  Satin can be a very tricky fabric because it can make you appear larger, but Alba was trim and svelte last night.  That’s because of the expert draping of the designer and the actress’ figure.  Jessica Alba has donated her gown for auction and all proceeds will go to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in support of The Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

Rachel Bilson Is Eyewear Ambassador At Sunglass Hut

Rachel Bilson has been named the new eyewear ambassador to Sunglass Hut.  The actress is well-known for her love of sunglasses, and it’s paid off with a new contract.  “I can’t say what makes me a good style adviser for them, but I am a huge sunglasses addict. I don’t leave the house without [a pair].” Brands have been snatching up celebrities to design and promote their products lately.  A symptom of the economic downturn?  Think back to Lindsay Lohan at Ungaro, and most recently, Sarah Jessica Parker signed on with Halston.  Many are usually left wondering if these pairings are as magical as they appear at first glance.  One understands the celebrity appeal, they come with immediate name recognition and a built-in consumer base.  We’ve just witnessed the backlash of the Lohan-Ungaro union, it ended with the designer being replaced by Giles Deacon.  These partnerships need not end badly, the right collaboration can yield remarkable results for both parties.  Rachel Bilson with Sunglass Hut can be such a union.  Her first appearance as brand ambassador is on Wednesday, April 28th as the company celebrates the opening of their new Flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York.

Sarah Jessica Parker Lands Vogue Cover: Talks Halston & SATC

Sarah Jessica Parker has it all right now; new twin girls, a movie sequel and a new position as president and chief creative officer at Halston.  She landed the cover of Vogue’s May issue, and success looks good on her.  Life is definitely good for the actress turned designer.  Of her designing ways, the actress explains that Halston made her an offer she could not refuse.  Before accepting the offer, she gave them several opportunities to walk away, and reminded them they were taking “a very untraditional route”.   Apparently they were undeterred because Parker is essentially the new face of the label.  We know that Carrie Bradshaw is the epitome of style, and SJP has morphed into a style icon in her own right.  What remains to be seen is how this unbeatable combination will translate into her new Halston Heritage line. We eagerly await the debut of the spring 2011 collection; and many of us are rooting for her to succeed.

New: Sex and the City 2 – Trailer #2: It’s Getting Hot

The girls are back, and we have another trailer just when we needed it most.  Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda go on an adventure in the desert where they bump into Aidan.  The desert isn’t the only thing heating up; it appears Carrie is playing with fire when it comes to her ex Aidan.  I’m sure we can’t wait to see how this unravels.  Remember the movie opens on May 27th, lets hope this new trailer will keep us fashionably satisfied until then.

Video: Ladies of Sex and the City 2 Talk About the Movie

Today is Sarah Jessica Parker’s birthday, and there is no better time to remind everyone about the upcoming release of Sex and the City 2.  The movie opens on May 28th, and it’s sure to open to packed theaters nationwide.  Manhattan is not the only backdrop in the sequel, the ladies will have adventures in the Sahara desert as well.  Last week they won an award for Ensemble of the Year at ShoWest, and they talked about their experience on location.  We’re sure there will be tons of laughter, but I can’t wait to see their wardrobe.  As fashion lovers, we’re looking at the labels and styling.  Even more, I can’t wait to see them walk in Louboutins in the desert.  Priceless!

Red Carpet:

1. Rachel McAdams looked so lovely and ethereal in her Elie Saab gown last night.  It was made from a beautiful floral print that made us nostalgic for spring; it reminded me of a watercolor painting.   Rachel got high marks for the fit, fabric, its charm and her ability to wear it with incredible ease.

2. Carey Mulligan’s Prada dress was the perfect choice for the budding starlet.  It was young and avant garde while maintaining a sweetness.  The beading and embellishments could have gone tragically wrong, but she pulled it off beautifully.

3. Penelope Cruz got it right with this Donna Karan gown.  The rich color was perfect for her hair color and complexion.  I loved the asymmetrical pleating at the top.  Cruz has become one to watch on the red carpet, and last night was no exception.

4. Cameron Diaz rightly wore Oscar de la Renta to the Oscars and she glowed.  With Cameron, it was the whole package, the dress, hair and that winning smile.

5. Sarah Jessica Parker can hardly do any wrong on the red carpet.  She looked stunning in Chanel Couture last night.  The gown reminded me of Audrey Hepburn look in “My Fair Lady,” that alone would have landed her on this list.  She embodies a certain grace that complements whatever she wears.

6. Okay, there are actually six picks on my best dressed list.  Queen Latifah makes the list because she was gorgeous in Badgley Mischka, and I could not let that go unacknowledged.  The fit of the gown was perfect, I loved the one shoulder and that the embellishment came across her body at just the right angle.  She looked beautiful and her posture says that she felt beeautiful as well.  That is the job of the right dress on the right star at the Oscars.

SJP Takes An Official Role At Halston

sarahjessicaparker-1

The rumors surfaced yesterday, and confirmation came today that Sarah Jessica Parker is the new creative consultant at Halston.  We named SJP to our Rollcall list this week because of this daring move.  The house is co-owned by Harvey Weinstein who revived it in 2008.   They are betting that Ms. Parker can put her fashionable stamp on Halston because the actress is beloved for her enviable style.  She often wows us on the red carpet.  We can’t get enough of her as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City who is unquestionably stylish.  Even so, many question her new role at the fashion house.  The concern stems from the performance of previous fashion advisers at other houses who did not fare too well.  Inspite of that, SJP’s appointment is very intriguing, and I am eager to see her influence on the collections.  Needless to say, all eyes will certainly be on Halston during New York Fashion Week in February.
