Yves Saint Laurent was the home of structure and color-blocking for Spring 2012. It was reflected in the jackets and great fitting trousers, and a jewel-tone color palette. Think sapphire, burgundy, purple, green and navy, all were right at home for the season. The halter dresses took on the volume needed for drama and effect. A gorgeous gown in a paisley print was flowy, and perfect because of its movement. The backless tops were sexy, but were paired with knee-length skirts or slacks to off-set the allure. This collection was feminine and rich in details, like the ruffles blouses worn with flirty skirts.

Evan Rachel Wood attended the “Ides of March” premiere in YSL. Her white pant suit had structured shoulders, and tapered legs for an updated silhouette. It was a standout among the many dresses at the event for its ease. A black bustier was added to softened the menswear-inspired look. She also accessorized with a pair of two-one high heels and a beaded necklace. The actress styled her hair in an updo to continue her theme for the evening.

Leighton Meester covers the April 2011 issue of L’Officiel China in a sexy YSL halter jumpsuit.  The look is from Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring 2011 collection; she wore it in vibrant orange with a gold metal chokerat the neckline.  Her editorial was a feast of jewel-tone hues like emerald, amethyst andsapphire.  Lanvin, Gucci and Fendi were also included in the full magazine spread.  Primary colors are a refreshing sight during the spring and summer months because they are often dominated by soft pastels.  These looks were vivid and cheerful, exactly what the doctor ordered during a week of continuous clouds and rain.

Jourdan Dunn and Ginta Lapina star in YSL Touche Eclat’s Spring 2011 campaign.  It’s very elegant and nonchalant, look at the way they hold the highlighter pen.  The ad perfectly captures the Parisian woman’s attitude.  Nothing was left to chance here, the models were dressed in black standing in front of a gold background to play off of the makeup’s container.

Emmy Rossum was lovely in an emerald green Yves Saint Laurent gown at the Met Opera last night in New York City.  The color was a winner because it was just right for spring.  It had elegant draping in the bodice and throughout the length of the skirt.  She opted for even more color in the purple platformed heels, and a green satin clutch in a darker hue than her dress.  Emmy’s belt was also purple, but the red stones within it kept her from being too matchy.  I especially loved the bright red lips.  Of course the center-parted hair with beautiful curls was also gorgeous.  This look worked because she was not afraid to play with color.

Rebecca Hall was sleek in a floor-length Yves Saint Laurent gown at the Met Opera in New York City.  The beauty was in the bold red color and the simplicity of the design.  It sported long sleeves and a crew neckline.  She wore no jewelry aside from the bejeweled belt worn low on her waist.  A black pair of peeped-toe sandals and a black evening back completed her look.  Her hair was parted in the center and relaxed curls rested on her shoulders.  I get a 1970′s vibe from this look, but it is perfectly updated for this decade.

Olivia Munn wore a strapless Yves Saint Laurent to the Met Opera last night.  The black velour dress fell to the floor with a mini train.  It had a waist band with gold trim that cinched accentuated her figure.  She accessorized with a pair of black elbow-length gloves and evening bag.  Olivia went without jewelry, though a gold necklace with a pendant minus the gloves would have been more youthful.  This was a classic and elegant look.  Her hair was shiny and styled in a modern bob.

Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring 2011 ad campaign stars model Arizona Muse.  The campaign strikes a beautiful contrast between nature and high-end luxury.   Model Arizona poses in a glamorous gown from the Spring 2011 collection against the backdrop of leaves from a banana tree; the sleeves of her gown mimics the folds of the leaves.  Her look was inspired by Old Hollywood, from the glamour of the dress, the coif of the hair, right down to the sultriness of the makeup.  The ad was shot by Inez and Vinoodh in an exotic location, a good distance away from the runways of Paris. 

Jessica Alba is the cover of Elle magazine’s December 2010 issue.  The actress is pretty in pink wearing a gorgeous retro look from Christian Dior’s Resort 2011 collection.  Elle opted for a springtime cover for the winter Holiday season.  It was either crazy or genius to go for a warm weather look; though I suspect many are already craving a vacation in the Caribbean at this juncture.  The orange and pink YSL two-piece is one of my favorites from the photo spread.  Her shoot was feminine and pretty- girly pieces, soft makeup and tousled hair; the perfect beginnings for fun in the sun.

Halle Berry attended the Carousel of Hope Gala in a gorgeous YSL gown over the weekend.  She was stunning in the red one-shoulder number that was fitted to perfection.  This dress had all the drama needed on the  red carpet, it was beautifully draped and fell to the floor in a pool of silk.  She paired it with a bronze evening bag, diamond hoop earrings and a simple cocktail ring, she proves that with accessories, sometimes less is more.  The Gala was held to raise money for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Los Angeles.  Berry has been living with diabetes for years.
