Reese Witherspoon donned a teal Zac Posen dress to the Sydney premiere of Water for Elephants.  It was strapless and form-fitting with a V-neckline and embroidery in the bodice.  The blue complemented her eyes andblond ringlets of curls.  I like the bustier- styled look, it’s very flattering on the actress.  She accessorized with a pair of black peeped-toe Christian Louboutin heels.

Zac Posen Fall 2011 Collection – RTW

Zac Posen brought sexy leather dresses to the runway in Paris.  These figure hugging beauties will have you counting down to Fall 2011.  They had beautiful details, patterns and textures, updated for the new decade.  The proportions and silhouettes on these dresses were specific and exact, the fit was spectacular.  Some came strapless while others had exaggerated shoulders and sleeves, but all were fabulously structured.  Tailored pants also made their way down the runway and were accompanied by fabulous furs.  Luxury is in the details, and Zac Posen has it in spades for fall 2011.

Golden Globes 2011 – Best Dressed List

Anne Hathaway in Giogio Armani Prive

Mila Kunis in Vera Wang

Piper Perabo in Oscar de la Renta

Elisabeth Moss in Donna Karan

Eva Longoria in Zac Posen

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein

The stars brought their A-game to the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards show last night.  So many fabulous gowns walked the red carpet that it was a challenge to pick just five, so we chose six.  Anne Hathaway was glamorous all the way in a sequined Giorgio Armani Prive gown.  The floor length bronze number had a hint of the 1980′s without sacrificing modernity.  A cognac colored evening bag and cocktail ring fully complemented her dress, but it was the hair and makeup that gave her a flawless finish.

Emerald green was the reigning color of the evening and both Mila Kunis in Vera Wang and Elisabeth  Moss Donna Karan rocked this trend to perfection.  Mila wore a one-shoulder goddess-like gown with a fitted bodice and sweeping train.  Her hair was just right for the dress, in a sophisticated bun.  Elisabeth went with a strapless dress with beautiful ruching details in the upper bodice.  It lightly skimmed her curves and gracefully fell to the floor.  The chandelier earrings were a great touch, especially since she went without a necklace.  Her blowout was fun and sexy, and had nice movement.

The color black did not dominate the carpet this year, but there were two noteworthy contenders.  Piper  Perabo wore a black Oscar de la Renta and Eva  Longoria went with a black Zac Posen; both ladies were stunning.  Piper’s dress was chic and sophisticated.  It managed to be sleek even with a bow on the shoulder strap and a bustle in the back.   Her hair was styled in a ponytail that echoed the elegance of the gown.  Eva was a lady on a mission last night, and it was accomplished.  She wore a super sex gown with a low-cut diamond shaped neckline, capped sleeves and an entrance making train.  Her hair was styled in a side swept up-do and her makeup was radiant and neutral.

The simplicity of Emma Stone’s gown was unmistakably Calvin Klein.  This was modern at its finest; capped sleeves and a crew neckline.  It had a gorgeous sorbet peach color that instantly brightened the red carpet.   Her blond hair and tanned skin were in harmony with her dress color.  A multi-colored clutch finished-off her look.  On review of this list, we found that celebrities and their stylists overwhelmingly selected American designers for the Globes.  Will this trend continue for the other awards shows?  We will tune-in.

Reese Witherspoon attended the Los Angeles premiere of How Do You Know in Zac Posen.  The actress wore a black strapless dress with a graphic pink ribbon print design from the Spring 2011 collection.  It was lady-like and feminine with a fabulous proportional fit.  Reese complemented her look with a pair of black stiletto pumps, and her jewelry was kept at a minimum; she only wore a pair of earrings.  Her infamous blond locks were blown straight and her makeup was pretty in a soft peachy-pink.

Will Zac Posen Take His Show To Paris?

Image Via My Fashion Life

There is talk that American designer Zac Posen may show his Spring 2011 collection in Paris.  It’s been reported by WWD that he takes issue with his time slot for New York Fashion Week in September.  Posen said no decision has been finalized, but he believes “doing a fashion show in New York with today’s climate, is difficult.”  He goes on to say he wants to go to Paris “where they understand my clothes.”  The rumor is reminiscent of when Marc Jacobs considered leaving for Paris a few seasons back.  Hopefully Posen and the CFDA will work out this matter and New York will keep this talented designer.

Zac Posen Plans Fashion Line for Target

Zac Posen Spring 2010

Zac Posen Spring 2010

Zac Posen is coming to Target.  His Go International collection will be available at Target on April 25th to May 30th.  We are in an environment where high-end designers are opting to make their clothes more accessible to the mass market.

Posen has been very busy lately; only two weeks ago he announced his diffusion ‘hipster’ line to be sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue.  His Z Spoke collection with Saks will go for $78 to $675.  The young designer’s high-end collection goes for $900 to $12,000, but the price point for the Go International collection has not been announced.  It’s fair to say that the price point will be significantly lower than even the Z Spoke collection because previous Go collections at Target have retailed from $14.99 to $149.99.

Designing clothes for the mass market improves the bottom-line, and it increases the name recognition of the designer.  The consumer also wins because they will have access to affordable  merchandise from a high-end designer.  Only the lines at Target will tell the full story next spring, but it’s likely that the story will be a very good one for Zac Posen.

Zac Posen is the Latest to Launch Lower-Priced Line

zac_posen_saks

You can add Zac Posen to a growing list of high-end designers choosing to launch a diffusion line.  The collection will be sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue.  Z Spoke will be available next spring at prices far lower than the Zac Posen collection.

Think sportwears instead of the avant garde pieces we’ve grown to expect from this young designer.  The line will be priced between $75 to $675, a mere bargain compared to the Zac Posen collection which sells between $900 and $12,000.  Separates are the foundation of the collection and you will have your selection of knits, cotton and khakis.

Diffusion lines have been the answer in an ailing economy.  We’ve seen lower-priced collections from Alexander Wang, Doo-Ri Chung and Thakoon Panichgul this year alone.  Temperley is also launching a diffusion line due out next spring, at about the same time Z Spoke will be available at Saks.
